Elsewhere on the interwebs: "So this guy at work asks if he can “share” a cab with me again. ::roll eyes:: what he means by this is that he will ride all the way to our neighborhood on my dime, and then pay for the additional mile and a half that he needs to travel. I reluctantly agree, (because what else can I do?) and call for the cab. Then he wants to grab something at the petrol station across the road. Whatever. I go along, grab my soda and chips, but he’s still staring at the gum rack like the magic shelf is going to open up any minute so he can buy his aqua-gum. I pay for my purchases, and get the call that the cab is waiting; he’s still in line. I let him know we need to go. Get to the cab and where is he? Still in the line! Does he think I’m also going to foot the bill for waiting in a cab while he buys his freakin’ gum and cancer sticks? In disgust, I ask the cab to go up and make a u-turn to give him one last chance to get in. As we are doing so, I see him on the opposite side - he’s finally decided to get himself to the spot from which the cab just embarked. F him, he can call his own cab. No way am I paying for another round about the block to pick his a$$ up. Sheesh!" ---

I agree with the crowd of “you didn’t follow immediately so you gave up your chance to share the cab.” Sorry buddy but HE was doing YOU a favor. He didn’t offer you “hey wanna split a cab with me since you and I live nearby?” You jumped on him when you heard him ordering a cab, imposing yourself and putting him in the position where he pretty much has to say “yes” otherwise he’s a jerk, even though you were the jerk by just inviting yourself to the cab he called for. Then you both head to the store together to kill time, and the cab calls. Any respectable person would drop whatever it was they were planning to do at the store (as much as I know you Brits/Irish love to queue) and follow the friend to the cab immediately. Frankly, the OP sounds like an entitled asshole, inviting himself along to other’s cab ride and then expecting them to wait for him while he queues about all day in a store. Hit the nail on the head, and it wasn’t like he was waiting for 5 minutes or anything for me, he intentionally left even though I was right behind him. He just didn’t want to share a cab and drop me off at my house (My house is 5 mins away from his) ---

Where in the hell are you where it’s a \*petrol \*station, but you stand _in line_? Do you work in England/Ireland, but \*live \*in the US or Canada? I wouldn’t share a cab with you either. ---

Let’s get this straight, the first stop would be to my house, plus, I was behind him in the line in the store. And I didn’t mind paying full price to get to my place, it was just easier to share a cab rather than fuck around ordering two. This isn’t some random dude I know at work, he’s one of my best friends, what annoyed me was that he was selfish in knowing that he could drop me off, but couldn’t be bothered, and lied to me. The cab thing is more a symbol of he doesn’t give a shit about our friendship, and would fuck me over as long as it was convenient enough for him. Christ. ---

If it is as you say, and you were literally just a bit behind him as you crossed the road back to work, and he gets in the cab and tells the driver to punch it and leave you in the literal dust, then yeah, that guy’s a jerk and an asshole and a cunt. But if you KNEW he got the call, and dicked around in line behind him and then at the register long enough for him to get to the cab and leave you and you expected him to wait for you, I’m sorry to inform you but you’re an entitled asshole. And it absolutely WASN’T “easier” for him to share a cab with you if you’re 5 minutes out of the way for him, splitting the cost or not. Maybe that 5 minutes is worth the price of the individual fare. And then you heap on expecting him to wait for you at the petrol station. On top of that you used the word “of” when you meant “have” in your OP and I think that’s the reason I just plain don’t like you.
