That’s nothing. I use New Jersey Transit, and it’s like that every single damn forking day. Heck, it’s a lot worse at times. One train a bit delayed and people are standing elbow to butt. I’ve missed trains just trying to cross through the concourse to get to my track. Sometimes I wonder if I died and gone to hell or just live in New Jersey. The cause of this congestion was a single Northeast Corridor train being about 20 minutes late. You don’t need a major holiday for impossible crowds, just a single train being slightly delayed. I don’t know why the Gothamist didn’t print any pictures of the New Jersey concourse, maybe the photographer couldn’t get close enough to snap a picture. Or, maybe he didn’t want that _New Jersey association_ to get all over their new shoes. ---

My boss (who commutes Boston -\> Philly -\> NYC roughly 3 times a month) calls Penn Station the “envy of 3rd world countries everywhere” I was going to hop in and say “at least NJ Transit went to double-decker cars on the NE corridor to help with the congestion” but I guess “help” is too strong a word. ---

Metro North must have gotten worse since I used it. I took it to visit a girl friend when I lived in NY and never had a problem, not even the day after Christmas. ---
