I pit my old neighbor for the way she decided who to vote for

One of the women I work with said she voted for Bush because how can Kerry be a good president when he’s married to some French bitch?

The mind boggles.

No one voted for the Democrat for a stupid reason. The only votes cast for less-than-stellar reasons were for Bush.

No, but a higher percentage of people who voted for Bush were demonstratably stupid. Like believing that Weapons of Mass Destruction were actually discovered in Iraq. That kind of stupid.

Prove that.

And read the thread about the study carefully before you post a claim that’s been debunked.

Regarding the sample ballots - when I was politically active in the Pittsburgh area, I used to see people I knew to be functionally illiterate. Some of them had to have assistance in the voting booth to read the ballot, despite good eyesight.

Does anybody want to guess how many of them were clutching their Democratic sample ballots on the way in?

Incidentally, I find nothing particularly wrong with this. Many liberals insisted literacy tests be removed from the voting process, and for very good reason. But you should be quite careful about casting aspersions on the intelligence of the voters on either side.

His mind is made up, don’t confuse him with facts.

Presumably a man’s wife is the most influential person in his life, so I would hope the woman who most often has the ear of the President (and has a unique, exclusive relationship with him) would not be the “biggest cunt on earth”, to borrow a phrase from Revtim. Thus I can see the old lady’s reasoning behind her decision, although I’d hope she also had other reasons for voting for Dub.

That said, if that was her sole criteria, it’s no dumber than others I’ve seen from both Republican and Democrat voters. For example, I know some people who vote only for who their union/favorite special interest group/etc. tells them to vote for yet can’t tell you anything else their guy stands for.

There are dumbasses on both sides of the aisle. It’s just easier to pit Bush voters because it would be “politically incorrect” to cite the reasons some people voted for Kerry.

Actually, I think the race would have been a better one if our choices *had * been Theresa and Laura! Sharp ladies both, I think, either one would probably be a decent President.

Then imagine how the idiots would base their votes, on who would make the better First Gentleman.

I just learned that our mother-in-law did the exact same thing for the exact same reason. I wonder how much impact that had overall.

NSW Premier Bob Carr (like the Governor of a state in the US) is a very keen student of all things American. He is a huge Civil War buff and very knowledgable about US politics. He is a frequent visitor to the US and I guess gets to meet lots of people. Very early in the Presidential campaign I heard him interviewed on radio and when asked who he thought would win said (roughly):

“I think John Kerry may win. I have met him and he is a very impressive individual, not as impressive as his wife but very impressive none-the-less.”

I was subsequently surprised how Teresa Heinz-Kerry’s popularity played out.

what is the world coming to when people choose their political leader by what their partner does. people like this shouldn’t be allowed to vote. What their partner does is no concern on how the president will run the country. I just have one thing to say about this person. :wally

Ooohhh how about having teh GWB twins run, one as pub and one as dem, then for debates just some big mudslinging/mudwrestling event and lesban lovefest. We get a new president and entertainment.

What? You think our two party “buy the vote” system we have now picks presidents any more fairly?

(Oh and BTW, I understand teh stupid old lady, look how Hell-ary clinton tried to take over bill’s power as soon as he stepped into office (healthcare, etc.) so yes,the firstlady or cabinet members can kiss or kill your chances, for good reason. Would you guys feel the same if it was a GBLT couple running for prezzy or if Dean was married to a Ho or Vegas Showgirl?)

$49.95 on pay-per-view. Deficit? What deficit? (And triple the Social Security benefits for at least another 7 decades.)
