Sorry if this is disjointed and spotty but… I have always had minor sleeping problems so taking some sleeping pills is nothing new to me. I am also probably some kinds of clinical depressed. For the past year I have been taking various kinds of nighttime pain things to help me to go sleep. When I am in a “mood” I tend to overdo it. I did that tonight, and now I feel weird. I took a bunch of Tylenol PM, WAY too many in one dose, and I feel really weird, so I wish I hadn’t. I seem to be shivering but not cold. I kinda feel a bit numb in places, and I am doing weird things like feeling like I need to jerk my arm/hand/or something. My breathing also seems to be stinted. So I pit doing this. It was a mistake, I shall remember this and not let my emotions get to be next time. ---

I don’t know if you’re reading this, but if you are, please call 911 or your local poison control center right now. An overdose of tylenol is nothing to fool around with. I’ve also reported this thread to the mods, in the hope that one of them might be able to get your information to somebody who can help you. ---

Agree with **Captain Amazing** ; Tylenol in any form is _extremely dangerous_ if you OD on it, and can majorly mess your liver. It’s one of the leading causes of drug deaths, I believe (I seem to remember that stat from somewhere). Call someone. Right now. Please. ---

**Sir T-Cups** , IANAD, but even I know that taking more than the recommended dose of Tylenol is a very bad idea. Please listen to the other posters and call 911 immediately. ---

I firmly believe that acetaminophen should be illegal; it’s utterly insane that such a toxic substance is an ingredient in common over-the-counter medications. Especially in light of the fact that there are many other painkillers available with a far lower risk of damaging the system, it is outrageous that Tylenol and other preparations containing acetaminophen are on the shelves. It is also needlessly added to prescription painkillers like Lortabs. This substance should absolutely not be available to people. ---

You can take 4 grams of APAP/24 hours before running afoul of any max recommended dosages. Max daily dose of diphenhydramine (the other active ingredient in Tylenol PM that everybody seems to be forgetting about) is 400mg. Assuming a dose of 500/25 (Extra Strength Tylenol PM), if you’ve taken more than 8 pills you’ve overdosed on APAP. If you’ve taken more than 16 pills, you’ve overdosed on both APAP and diphenhydramine. ---

Like I said, I’ve done that before so it’s nothing really new to me…I just actually stayed awake for longer after I did it to actually _feel_ the effects…so ya’ll can rest easy. I sure did. ---

There are a TON of people out there for whome NSAIDs are not a viable option for pain control, and tylenol is just about the only thing they can take for pain. Exactly what would you have them do? I mean, anyone who knows even a teeny bit about the medication knows that you shouldn’t take too much of it, and too much can be easily reachable. It’s MEDICINE, and should be treated as such. I am very tired of not being able to get good meds anymore because some people have done stupid shit. Can’t get pseudoephedrine anymore if the pharmacy isn’t open, it’s behind the counter and you have to put your name on a registry. Can’t get infant’s cold remedies anymore, god knows why that is, but apparently coughing ALL FUCKING NIGHT is the acceptable way to treat a cough now, because parents don’t need any sleep or have jobs or anything, and really, kids don’t get sick all that often :rolleyes: ---
