One of my favorite things about the Dope is the clever user names that people here come up with - \*\*It’s not Rocket Surgery, A Clockwork Melon, MirrorImageegamIrorriM, Drain Bead, Least Original User Name Ever, Angry Lurker, \*\*heck, even **Starving Artist** is a cool name. Uniqueness was also important, having a name that was unlike another; for instance, if there were another poster here with the name **A Clockwork Tangerine** , then **Melon’s** name would lose some of its cache. I decided upon my name mainly because it’s a line in my favorite movie; there are 2 characters in the story with the same name of Jeffrey Lebowski. There’s the main character, who goes by the nickname “Dude”, and then there’s the titular character, the Big Lebowski, “the other Jeffrey Lebowski, the millionaire”. I patted myself on the back. Well done, I said. What a maroon!! I should’ve gone with something simpler, like **Union Jackson** or **Pot’s Labrynth** - two of my rejects. **The Other…** is simply too generic, and I bet that soon the Dope will be running rampant with like sounding names, **The Other Harold Diddlebock, The Other Charles Foster Kane, The Other Charley Varick**. I apologize, Dopers, for what I have wrought! :smack: ---

If you ask the mods nicely, I think you get a one time good deal to change your name for almost any reason. After that, I’ve heard it takes a lot of cash, and possibly personal services. But I do not know for sure. ---
