I Pit Obama and his Kool Aid Drinking Puppets

Think again…You could be paying less than you are now. The postal service has statutory monopoly on first class mail Private companies can’t legally compete. Private mail carriers can offer services for urgent letters, but they are LEGALLY REQUIRED to charge $3 or twice the postal rate, whichever is greater.

Isn’t government wonderful?

Hey, maybe when they give us universal health care, they will even let us see our own doctors! We just have to pay twice as much, even if the private doctor can do it cheaper!!! YAY!!!

Ever have one of those moments when asking for a cite seems absurd, in a Camus sort of way?

You seem like a “glass is half empty” kind of guy.

Perhaps.

Now, care to refute my argument and explain why the same principles that the government applies to the post office will not apply to your health care?

Well, if you can’t afford to mail a letter? You won’t fucking* die!*

Right. You will die from not being able to get quality or affordable healthcare.
If you think it is expensive now, wait until the government gets control of it.
They have to do things like establish statutory monopoly…because the fact is, they cannot do things better than the private sector.

Yeah, can’t do *anything * right! See the moon? See the footprints? You were saying?

Yeah, Enron sure proved that. Nobody fucks the public in the ass like the private sector.

Companies can only survive if they make money. The only way to make money as a health care company is to deny, deny, deny coverage.

The government doesn’t need to profit. Hell, it can simply print more money (see:last 7 years).

Whoa. Well, that’s some serious dumb you got there. You think less government = less government + more corruption, and THAT"S what Objectivists and others like the OP want? Really? Is that what you think?

And why doesn’t all that happen in the rest of the industrialized democracies, where they’ve had UCH for decades?

They’re not as smart as we are.

Greensboro huh? I work in Greensboro.

Its not as simple as printing more money. If the government prints more money you get inflation and eventually you are carrying a sack of money to buy a loaf of bread.

They lack even a basic understanding of the philosophy. An earlier poster used an analogy of a child stealing a truck saying “It’s mine.” This belies the ignorance on the subject, as objectivists don’t believe taking what belongs to someone else…that is one of the core beliefs of Objectivism.

Teach yer grandmother to suck eggs. Read every word that soul-numbing harridan ever wrote, before I was 20. Not as big a waste of time as Herman Hesse, maybe, but still…

The question was: Is it possible to be so rational you become, effectively, insane? She answered that question.

It might not be what they want, but it’s what we’ll all get, if they get what they want. Inevitable consequences.

Look around the world, at all the places where things in general go as well as or better than in the U.S., all the industrialized democracies. One thing you won’t find in any of them is minimal or ineffectual government.

American Libertarians and conservatives show an astonishingly persistent, almost inexplicable obliviousness to the fact that the rest of the world exists, let alone to the possibility that America might profitably learn something from other countries.

God no. That would be admitting that we’re not the best at everything. Can’t have that.

No, you dumbfuck. I think that the less government gives a rat’s fuck about its citizens, the more corrupt it’s inevitably going to become, and the poorer its citizenry is going to become as a result. This fact is borne out by merely observing the realities of how it’s played out within the borders of our closest neighbor to the south.

You demand a government that doesn’t take care of people – let everyone fend for their damn selves. I’ve got mine, so fuck everyone but me. Welcome to Mexico, pal.

You think people aren’t living in “houses” made from shipping pallets and garbage bags? Think again! I’ve personally helped tear several down to build a proper structure out of real building materials as a volunteer with Corazon’s “Build a House in a Day” program. I also lived in Mexico for a year and a half, and witnessed the abject poverty first-hand on a daily basis.

When you can say the same, I might give a flying fuck what you have to say on the subject.

No. Now, they teach Obamanomics.
