I promise to participate in a May Day demonstration tomorrow. You in exchange will promise that you will register to vote and then show up on Election Day 2026 and vote the straight Democratic ticket across the ballot. @Frilly_Heck How could you possibly know what is offensive to you or women in general? You need Little Nemo to explain to you that you should not be offended because _he_ does not feel it is offensive so basically f-off.\\\\\\\\\\\\\ @Frilly_Heck You don’t get an apology because you don’t understand what offends or should offend you. You should have asked Little Nemo first so he could carefully and slowly explain to you what is offensive. Silly girl Nemo knows better. Seriously, I think it’s more the condescending all wise attitude that irks me more than the offensive language. Eh, I gave him a choice. I don’t think it was bad for him to game it (at least politically, it’s not good for community building). He just doesn’t know how to game it well. ETA: I gave him the choice because I understood he was not going to apologize. It was already clear. I was curious as to whether he would let that get in the way of a chance to be in some sort of accord – and it did. ---

I have not declared that I am the arbitrator of what words are and are not offensive. I don’t get to declare that a word is inoffensive and expect everybody else to comply with my ruling. But here’s the key point. Neither is Frilly Heck. Frilly Heck doesn’t get to declare that a word is offensive and expect everybody else to comply with their ruling. They have no more authority over the language than I do. Frilly Heck and I disagree on whether or not the word hysteria is offensive. This thread is about the necessity of dealing with people who disagree with you on issues. ---

Trump is a poorly thought out comic book villain that at best makes Lex Luthor seem reasonable and Ambush Bug look intelligent, and if you tried to make a movie involving his antics up to date back at the turn of the century even b-grade straight to video studios wouldn’t touch it. He is best symbolized as a cartoon monkey in a clown suit carrying a lit dynamite stick. There is no time to analyze the exact things he may have said, did and wants to do is **before** that dynamite goes off. ---
