…you are obviously at this stage either trolling or delusional. There is no in-between.

The reason why you had to invent multiple fictional quotes is because _nobody actually said anything like this_.

Pretty much. There’s over a thousand posts in this thread by now and I don’t see a lot of new points being made. However dozens of repetitive posts keep being made. I started the thread so I don’t feel like I should just abandon it. But I’ve passed the point where I feel the need to write an original response to a new repetition of a comment I’ve already addressed.

If somebody posts something new, I’ll write a new response.

Of course, I’m reading posts here.

But as I noted, a lot of people are repeating things which are essentially the same as things that have already been posted. The person who posted it thinks they’re making an original point and they get annoyed if I treat it as a repetition.

And some people seem to feel that any disagreement is unacceptable. Their view appears to be you can agree with them or you can be wrong.

I realize many of you are going to say I’m taking the same position.

All is not lost. Listen to Elizabeth Booker Houston:

> Because the Trump administration is so callous, so lawless, just violating people’s Constitutional rights at every turn, it is very easy to get discouraged. But I want to remind everybody that we do still have the rule of law in the United States. We do still have a means to fight back, and Trump loses in court - _a lot_. The majority of the time he loses, and he does comply. We need to keep fighting back. . . . OK, so we just saw that Liam Ramos and his father Adrian were returned to Minneapolis to their home after they had been snatched up by ICE agents, despite being lawful asylum seekers who are documented in the United States, and they were sent to Texas’ Dilley Detention Facility. And the reason why they are home is because a Federal judge said they had to be released. We do still have this way to push back, and when it comes to protecting immigrant communities, we have got to keep using the courts. . . . You cannot give up, guys.

Yup, persistence is crucial despite discouragement.

As for why liberals are prone to internecine tone policing and partisan infighting about who’s “doing it wrong” when it comes to resisting Trumpism, my theory is that it’s a form of the [“streetlight effect”.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streetlight_effect)

I.e., when the drunk guy is asked why he’s looking for his lost keys under the streetlight even though he lost them somewhere else, he replies that under the streetlight is where he can see to look for them because that’s where the light is.

The people that anti-Trumpism liberals **need** to be having rational fact-based disagreements and discussions with are the Trumpists, but the Trumpists are basically unreachable via rationality and fact, so liberals pick fights with each other instead. Because that’s where it’s at least possible to have a rational argument, even though it isn’t actually accomplishing anything in terms of Trumpism resistance.

The lemkin institute is literally talking about the definition of genocide due to the patterns that Trump + administration display, which is a very classic genocide. While I agree that there’s a lot of things said about Trump that just end up detracting, genocide is not one of them. The trans community has been speaking for many many years begging for you people to listen to us, and now there are genocide scholars who are agreeing with the use of the term genocide. Trump can only deny that he’s committing a genocide because people think that genocide looks like the Holocaust and they all know what that looks like and totally would never be involved in any way, but yeah that’s bullshit.

Trans Americans have been BEGGING for you people to listen to us. There is in fact genocide happening, it has been happening, the pattern is clear, we are well past the non-violent stages. It has been countless decades of the community begging even other queers to listen, but no why would you listen to transsexuals when we point out the really clear and obvious oppression and violence.
”calling it a genocide is just over the top” yeah well it’s really not. It’s really not over the top to say that Trump and in fact the entire American system has been a genocide machine since day one targeting black people, trans people, and indigenous women and children. it is not over the top to say that Trump is committing a genocide because he is very deeply pushing for the death of Trans Americans.
It is not over the top to say that there is a still ongoing genocide of Indigenous populations in America, especially as the cases of missing Native women and children often go without much care put into them, if any at all. It is not fear mongering to say that our government has for a very long time had a policy and system in place (once boarding schools, now family policing) to remove children from the home especially Black, Brown, or Indigenous children. It is not outrageous to point out how the removal of these children and consistent and PREFERRED placement into homes of white, Christian families (mind you families that frequently engage in sexual violence) is genocidal.

To call the American system genocide is NOT an overreaction. It is an acknowledgement of the every day reality of BIPOC and Transgender/Transsexual communities in America since the very beginning. Genocide is the word that’s used for the slave catchers doing the slave catching job. Genocide is the term that’s used for state sanctioned violence like accessibility to legal defenses such as the “Trans Panic Defense”, or state sanctioned violence such as how family policing is more likely to remove black children from their homes and place them with white families where they are likely to be a target of racial violence, or the sanctioned violence of again family policing which doesn’t often remove children due to cases of sexual abuse whereas almost 25% of children who have been in foster care report undergoing sexual abuse in their life time. Hmmm, the STATE placing children in homes that are sexually abusive? YEAH THATS GENOCIDE. That is state sanctioned violence that actively destroys cultural lineages, actively pulls people away from homes that would have been safer for them (children are more likely to be removed due to a parents’ prison history than they are to be removed for actual evidence of abuse and neglect, speaking to my own case in particular too.)

How clear does it have to get?

School resource officers, when committing crimes, are more likely than other cops to commit crimes of sexual nature, more likely to assault young girls, more likely to cause harm to black and brown students, and actively fuel school to prison pipelines. That is state sanctioned violence. The fact that countless cops are accused of or convicted of violent assault or rape of civilians and MINORS and they keep their jobs is state sanctioned violence, GUESS WHO THAT VIOLENCE IMPACTS THE MOST.

Im sorry but when does it become genocide to you? When?

Sorry, I forgot genocide only happens when we’re in line to be shot. I forgot that the camps of individuals of only a certain select few minorities (racial) where they are living in medically unsafe conditions, being denies healthcare, being denied rights of all sorts, and dying, yeah I forgot that doesn’t look like genocide at all.
I forgot that America has never committed a genocide EVER because America would never ever do so naughty and mean, we beat up the Nazis!! That means we could never do a genocide!!

This has become a serious rant, but my overall point is wow, disrespectful as all hell to call talk of very real ongoing American genocide “overselling it.” Frankly it is just the most disrespectful thing i’ve read in a long time considering that the genocide of Indigenous peoples didn’t stop after early colonization. The genocide of Black Americans hasn’t stopped once in American history. The genocide of trans individuals is only ramping up to the clearest possible state.

Do you have that much faith in the American system, and TRUMP to not commit genocide? Seriously, Do you think he can actually legitimately deny American history. Our country is built on blood. America is THE poster child for genocide, it’s all we’ve ever done is commit genocide. You can’t possibly be calling GENOCIDE a FALSE ACCUSATION right? The amount of gall and disrespect that takes, to look at decades upon decades of Black people, Native American communities, Trans people, and just say “yeah no, there’s no genocide happening in America.”

It’s a poorly researched take at best, worded with complete and total ignorance towards American history and current events with a nuanced look.
While i’m sure you meant nothing by it, there is simply no other way to look at this and not read utter disrespect at best for the communities affected by Trump and American systems at large.

I feel there are a hardcore group of magas who are unreachable. They will never abandon Trump. The best we can hope for in these cases is to possibly direct their anger towards other Republicans by making the argument that these other politicians haven’t given Trump enough support. I don’t see how these magas will ever vote Democratic but it’s possible we could get them to also not vote Republican.

But I feel there are many Trump supporters who can be reached. Trump, after all, has been a disaster in so many ways. It’s just a matter of pushing the right buttons. If you’re talking to a second amendment supporter, point out that Trump supported ICE agents who killed somebody for carrying a gun in public. If you’re talking to a self-proclaimed Christian, talk about Trump’s divorces and his numerous affairs. If you’re talking to a libertarian capitalist, talk about the economic harm caused by Trump’s mood swing tariff announcements.
