Nemo, as politely as possible, shut up about genocide. You clearly do not know the true extent of that term. While there might not be nuclear war, and there isn’t “slavery” in the context you think of (because slavery takes multiple forms, and in fact American slavery is and has been alive and well since it’s foundational days,) there **is** and **undeniable genocide.** You do not know what genocide looks like, and I don’t blame you for that because oh so clearly all your position comes from a place of “well the system works for me when I play by the rules so why don’t you all just settle down and play by the rules to get by.” **sit your happy white backside back in it’s place. what do you know about genocide, when have you ever felt the impact of the words you throw around to deny generations of pain, mutilation, oppression, suffering at the hands of the people you are protecting by denying that these things happened.** Tell me what in your life you have experienced that gives you the room to talk over years, **decades** of voices that have all spoken about the pain and genocide of American policy. Tell me what you studied, what you witnessed, or what life you lived that gives you the personal right to speak over affected communities? An ally is only an ally if they’re willing to confront the truth, an ally is only an ally if they are willing to listen to indigenous and black and trans voices, and you are not an ally. You certainly don’t act like one Nemo. Allies listen to decades of Black pain and say “i won’t let the white man’s word override that.” Allies listen to the countless indigenous women saying “my sisters are gone, my mothers were taken, and our children have been ripped from loving homes” and they say “that is unjust, that is cruel” Allies listen to trans voices speak of how the government has allowed for the policing of their bodies, the killing of their culture, and the loss of their freedom and allies say “that’s disgusting and immoral” **you** say “But that didn’t happen” “But I don’t see it happening” “But your words make me uncomfortable” “I just think that your fear is unjustified, if you played by their rules you’d be fine” “i think you’re being hysterical” You are not an ally to these communities, you’re a stepping stone away from fascism but you have yet to distance yourself from the ideas of the oppressor. If the word genocide seems to big for you, then maybe you need to broaden your understanding of what these people represent, and how they have been impacted. If it is uncomfortable and scary- it should be. It should be scary, it should look frantic, it should terrify you to your core that a democratic government has been committing genocide for decades. Your disrespect has been appalling to read through. Know your place. You have no room to speak over decades upon decades of Black, indigenous, Hispanic, and queer voices in America. You have no room to deny their suffering because it makes you uncomfortable that it happened. ---

The house is already on fire and seriously damaged. The CDC has become a laughing stock. Vaccination rates are the lowest in years. We’ve stopped tracking a lot of public health data. The basic research that used to power out economy has had sand poured into the engine. Many studies were killed, including multi-year studies. Valuable strains of biological materials (mice, yeasts, stuff in between) had to be destroyed because there weren’t funds to maintain them. Contact information of human participants has been lost. The US University system, once the goal of the best students anywhere, has taken serious damage. The top Chinese students are going to stay in China, not come here. Even if we change our rules to welcome them again, they won’t know people here, and are unlikely to want to come. The police apparently didn’t need a warrant to break down our doors any longer. Whole urban economies are dying because their employees and customers are afraid they’ll be “mistaken” for illegal aliens and hauled off to distant holding cells. NATO doesn’t trust us. None of our former allies trust us. Trust takes time to rebuild. If we did this once, what’s to stop us from doing it again in 4 years? ---
