I’m open to the possibility they will impeach. I doubt that they will. But _removal_ is an entirely different thing. I think the establishment Dems don’t recognise the existential threat that they are facing. Even if they broke the threshold to convict in the midterms, someone would break ranks. Why I don’t think they will impeach this time is firstly because Pelosi won’t be driving the ship. Secondly, when they impeached him the last two times, there was the threat of a second Trump term. That threat (assuming they follow the 22nd Amendment) no longer exists. And if they plan to _ignore_ the 22nd Amendment, then impeachment and conviction wouldn’t matter anyway. Thirdly, if they don’t have the numbers to convict, impeachment would largely be inconsequential. ---
