You can’t send a drone with a missile and only destroy the top of the hospital? Or something similar that limits damage to the building? It’s OK Smapti, we all know what you really want isn’t to eliminate the actual threat it’s to destroy the building the threat is using, it not being a legitimate military target be damned. BTW, that hospital in Chula Vista had an American soldier in it so it was a legitimate military target. ---

And you would have preferred that the rest of the world do WHAT in response to Hitler’s dreams of conquering Eurasia and committing genocide? Let him? Invite him over for tea and talk it over? Politely ask him not to invade? You can’t defeat fascism with words and you can’t expect fascists to accept your “war doesn’t solve problems” mentality any more than you can convince a stampeding buffalo that it’s just wasting its time and should relax. The only thing fascists understand is power, and if you want to stop them, you have to be ready to fight. ---

“Bombing the hospital” and “shooting a missile at the roof of the hospital” are the same thing. We’re speaking colloquially here, not drafting a legal document. You’ve already defined both of them as “deliberately targeting civilians” anyway. ---

My apologies. I appear to have confused you with Sylvanz. You’re still splitting hairs. You can’t just “destroy the roof” of a hospital and have it still be usable. You’re still making it unusable and civilians are still going to die. ---

It’s more usable with out it’s top floors than it is after subjecting it to multiple air strikes and artillery barrages and then bringing in bulldozers to make sure the rubble is as close to dust as the Israelis scan make it isn’t it? Ya know, the thing you are defending. ---

If that’s what it takes to keep it from being used as a staging area for REPEATED attacks, then that’s what has to be done. My hypothetical was a one-off. Israel doesn’t have the manpower to permanently occupy every large building in Gaza to stop Hamas from just bringing another missile battery to fire out of the hole where the roof used to be. ---

Exactly, and the US has no choice but to destroy civilian infrastructure, in violation of of laws we wrote, because it helps to maintain Iran’s unwillingness to totally surrender, if that’s what it takes. ---

It’s in the US’ interest to provide military aid to Israel. That doesn’t mean we get to dictate what they do with the weapons they purchase from us. ---

I’m not a engineer or anything, but if you violently remove a floor or two from the top of any building isn’t it possible there might be extensive structural damage? Wouldn’t you have to evacuate because the structure might fail at any time? ---
