I pit Rush Limbaugh for being an idiot about birth control

Who needs aspirin?! Hell, that would cost money.

And what about your “image pop” reference with the pilonidal cyst deferred Drugster?

I’m wondering how long before allegations of witchcraft come out.

“I SAW GOODY FLUKE WITH THE DEVIL!!!”

It’s clear she bewitched Rush into saying those things.

I thought that was sort of what Scylla was trying to say.

The Bill Maher is gaining enormous currency. Why him so damned particular I have no idea, but I love the fact that so many of the ones who are running with it you know would identify as Christian.

[QUOTE=Jesus Christ]

Love those who hate you, if somebody strikes your face turn the other cheek. Unless Bill Maher never apologized to another person in a completely unrelated situation in which case do whatever the fuck you want. In my name, amen.

Simon, do you love me? Then feed my sheep. Unless somebody somewhere that you disagree with has done something that once you were reminded of you were pissed off about and they never apologized, even if it’s got fucking jackshit to do with the person who was harassed, pick out one sheep and just harangue the hell out of it for three days. In my name, I am the Lord, peace out.

What you do to the least of my brethren you do unto me, unless Bill Maher never apologize in which case feel free to be a huge fucking dick for days on end to somebody who doesn’t speak for and has jackshit to do with Bill Maher as a payback. Love ya, mean it, I am Jesus."

I think he’s the only left leaning guy with a regular TV show who also regularly trashes people on the right. But I’ve never heard him trash a private individual for just stating her opinion to congress.

Actually, Sampiro is correct and Bricker is incorrect due to the inclusion of the phrase “…she wants to have sex anytime…”.

  1. T=set of all times
  2. S=set of all times she wants to have sex

“wants to have sex anytime”=the intersection of T & S=T
“never wants to have sex at any time”=the intersection of T & S=The empty set

We know that T is not equal to the empty set, therefore Bricker must go back to the drawing board with his translation.

Once again, the focus has been hijacked to be about the sexual behavior and choices of Ms. Fluke, rather than the ACTUAL issue, which is that Ms. Fluke was discussing the fact that women’s medical care choices should not involve outside parties. Women’s health care should remain between the woman and her doctor. The fact that the health care decisions in this case involve contraception has allowed people to shift the focus from the actual issue to “let’s talk about teh wimmins and der sexual behavior.”

Obviously, if the health care decisions didn’t involve contraception, the shift in focus wouldn’t happen, but it’s still a distraction. The real issue is that non-involved parties want to make health care decisions (or prevent health care decisions from being made) based on personal morality.

The lesson is that single women should not try to enter the public discourse on the issue of women’s health. If they do, people like Rush will call them sluts and then people like Bricker will engage in dismissive wordplay.

The result is the same: shut up slut.

:smack:

Okay, I was reading an extra “she wants [they want] it” where one does not actually exist. I suspect Bricker was, too, but it’s a fair cop, as they say…

Yes, but does she float?

Even if nobody really believed that she’s a slut, the fact remains that she’s been thrown suddenly into the public eye as a controversial figure. That in itself is enough to make other women think twice about speaking out.

That is the whole purpose of doing things like Limbaugh did. It demonstrates that if you speak out, you will be thrown into the middle of a very public controversy. That kind of controversy can bring the loss of a job or even of friends, simply because the employer or the friends don’t want to be involved. Such potential consequences can chill a lot of speech.

I’m not sure what the answer to that is other than for people to stand behind this woman and let her and others know that we think more, not less, of someone who’s attacked by the likes of Limbaugh. Being attacked by Limbaugh needs to become a badge of honor.

Except that in the original line the clause “[as] they want” modifies “they want to have sex any time.”

So it ends up being “…they want to have sex any time…they want.”

Sorry if I’m just not getting it, but that’s quite accurate. I want to have full access to birth control, and have employer insurance cover it, so that I can have sex any time I want.

Rush attacks another woman for no reason: What is it with these young single white women? Over-educated doesn’t mean intelligent.

Rush’s attacks on Fluke have nothing to do with any real opposition to having women’s medical care covered by insurance. They have everything to do with contempt for women.

I can understand how somebody can be overqualified, overpaid, overfed, overly analytical even, but I’ve never quite understood the adjective ‘overeducated’.

Does it mean “more educated than [the person using it in a sentence] is” or “too educated for a woman” or… what exactly?

He’s right, of course. Neither does overfed or overcompensated…

Not to mention that the woman in question has a B.A. A college degree. Not a Masters, not a doctorate. A B.A.

Apparently, women who have college degrees are over-educated now.

Uppity.

It’s not just for negroes anymore?

Oh, she’s black?

ETA: Curse you, Sampiro!
