The implication being that, by poking fun at a really unfortunate company name, you are revealing hidden depths of depravity or bigotry. And worse (scary music) **you** might not realize that you are a drooling, sheet-wearing, cross-burning white supremacist, but **I** do. Same argument is used to the point of fucking annoyance in various discussions of: - Israeli politics (you might not realize you are anti-semetic…) - The war on Terror (did you know you are an anti-American surrender monkey?) - Opal (did you know your fucking list had three entries?) and others which I would mention were I not reading this in a meeting and trying to look busy. I know I have a twisted sense of humor, and tend to find things funny that make common mortals whimper. That’s fine. But the common habit of ascribing base motives to anyone who disagrees with you (and further, who might be dumb enough not to have the benefit of your insight as to what motivates their position) makes me mad. You know, you’re jsut doing that because you are an idiot, right? ---

But my experience (which comes from being teased as a child through having a last name which can be mocked) is that there is no better way to make hurtful people less interested in attempting to mock you using a particular word than to use it openly about yourself and be completely unoffended by it. By that definition you are not prejudiced; you make too many allowances, and require too many informed judgments of yourself, before you are willing to dislike someone. You are not,in other words, _prejudgiing_. What you described is _bias_.
