I pit southern girls

Most of the cool, decent guys I know once were college guys.

I’ll bet they weren’t Yankees, though…

Believe it or not, there are plenty of college guys who don’t behave the way you’re describing.

Again, I’m reminded of someone squealing that they can’t stand women because all they do is blab about soap operas and complain about menstrual cramps.

I have the kind of girl friend you describe. We go places, we drink beers, we keep track of each other’s cats. She’s my ex gf! We dated for awile, I felt like I would rather be pals, she was able to get used to it and we’ve had all kinds of fun, platonic adventures.

You could do it too. I dunno though, I still think your current circumstances are tough. Stay in a place for awhile and you can have some kind of reputation, even if it is only, “There’s that guy.” If nobody really knows you then no one can vouch for you in even a casual way, which might make it difficult to establish trust quickly enough to get through the gf part and get to the platonic part of my plan before your time is up.

Of course I am friends with my gf too. Would you consider finding a gf if it came with a good ‘friend’ part?

Hey!

Eh, a few of them. Nobody I knew from college, though - I went to a southern women’s college, the idea of which must make the OP extraordinarily twitchy.

Dear, read that again. And you’re saying you mostly do this at bars? You are hitting on them. They will certainly think you are, and there’s no way to dissuade them of this in the 10 seconds you get to make a first impression. Plus, your protestations of it all being platonic ring hollow, bless your heart.

There’s no need for that kind of language in here; take it outside.
