I’m curious, OP. Do you just go apeshit on complete strangers on the internet? Or do you, when looking over to your neighbor’s porch and see them smack a moth out of mid air in the twilight, run over and tell them that they’re disrupting the great harmonium of life? When your coworker hits a fly with a rolled up TPS report near the coffee machine at work, do you report them to HR for genocide in the workplace? Or do you save your inappropriate levels of horror and disgust for us here at the Dope, praying that moralizing about the lives of single invertebrates will make you seem like a hero because all of the readers are pulled completely out of context? ---

If I saw a neighbour stomp on a praying mantis, I probably would say something. So yes, I’m a tool IRL too and not just on the internet. The life of the insect is inconsequential (I dare say you know intimately about inconsequential lives), but no, it it is the knee-jerk, “What the fuck is that?! Kill it quick!” mentality that roasts my goat. I think I might have mentioned this before, you were probably too busy being smug to notice. ---
