Ok I’ll grant you 0% may be over the top, but this is the typical kind of nitpicking. You know what I mean, less then 2% at best. Which is for all intents 0% I used to watch that show and there were plenty of people with like 1% or less European ancestry. ---

Yes, to the point that the sisters would not allow them to join. I can only imagine what the women in that '86 picture had to endure to be able to join. Remember, I was alive back then, even Public Enemy, one of the biggest hip-hop groups at the time spoke about the Zeta’s and the AKA’s. The book I linked to explains the origins, so yes they were defiantly limiting dark skinned women from joining. It started changing during that time, as I said. ---

See this is what I’m talking about, in the real world if you are 98% of west African decent, 2% means nothing. I wouldn’t even go as high as 2% for me. ---

I found the show. [Finding Your Roots.](https://www.pbs.org/show/finding-your-roots/) Plenty of people descended from US slavery with basically 0 European ancestry. I wait for the but but this and but but that. ---

Go for it! I think you’re a delusional crank with a poor connection to reality, so your certainty about your own ancestry, without a single test, is just more of the same. Smart people who understand even the smallest bit of genetics know that appearance has little to do with anything more than the vaguest notions of actual ancestry. ---

What point? I think genetic ancestry is interesting, but nothing about the person you are would change if it’s 10% or 0%. If you think it matters, you’re already on the wrong side of reality. ---

I’m not sure of the point of this video, but yes, it’s an unconventional strategy. I was just trying to explain to all the people that were so perplexed. I make no claim that it is a good tacit or that it will work. ---

And that’s leaving out that when you criticize him for these issues, he immediately ignored the actual criticism and [played the martyr claiming that I was attacking him](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/i-pit-split-p-j/941620/787) for his take on Biden and Harris - things I had never posted to him about. Kinda like, oh, recently when they decided he was being attacked for different opinions, rather than called out for poor information and insisting a book from 70 years ago is fully applicable today as a primary cite. ---

I grew up being told I had a lot of Native American ancestry. The reason is because I have high cheekbones, and one of my ancestors looked Native American in photos. When I took an ancestry test I had none. Not even a trace. Nor did my mom, who I had supposedly inherited it from. But I have 3% of my DNA from Norway, and my mom had more. And the features people assumed were Native American might have come from there. What’s funny is that there is no indication of who in my family tree might have had that ancestry or where it came from. That’s just one little anecdote to show why you can’t just look at someone and know where their ancestors came from. Genetics aren’t that simple and you can’t just judge people by their looks. ---

Either you know what _those particular women_ – at Howard, rushing AKA in 1986 – had to endure to be able to join and can bring receipts, or you don’t know and are speaking off the cuff. At least cop to winging it a bit and dealing in generalities. Sometimes you’re speaking too absolutely with too little backup. ---

So now I’m being twisted again, I was responding to you directly. I’m letting you and this board know that there are plenty of descendants of US slavery that are still 100% West African genes. Or damn close to it. When posters on this board said we are all mixed, I’m letting you we are not. You try to homogenize us down into all “black” while you get qualifiers like Irish or Italian or Hispanic, instead of just “white” You and this board may not care, but that is part of the nuance within black people descended slaves in the US. We have our own identity since we can’t add the qualifiers. We are Black Americans. The new immigrants from Africa break it down even further. You may not like it, but it is fact and Trump is being advised to try and capitalize on this long standing division.
