Good grief. It’s not even 5:30, and it’s already pitch-black out. I hate fall. It feels like a rip-off - the dark and cold and wet scratch at the sad, quiet places in our souls, and the dead, falling leaves fly like Mortality’s standard over all. And not a bit of snow to be seen - no brilliant bits of white caught in streetlamps passing to the ground, no satisfying _crunch_ under one’s feet, and absolutely no snowballs. I don’t care that it’s immature and unprofessional, throwing snowballs at friends takes the edge off things. But we can’t do that yet, cause it’s just fall. Damnit. Oh - and since this is the Pit: Fuck Fall, fuck the short days, and fuck the Earth’s fucking axial tilt that gives us this fucking limp-dick abortion of a season. (Too strong?) ---

Not hardly too strong. I detest the cold, the darkness. I have S.H.T.F.S.D. ( Seasonal Hate This Fuckin’ Season Disorder). All I want to do every winter is crawl into bed and sleep until it’s April. ---

I can’t get behind you. I love the cooler weather and the air smells so fresh. I even like the fact that it is dark when I go to bed. I guess it was a little bit of a bummer on Thursday when it was dark when I left and dark when I got home, but over all, this is my time of year. ---

Oh, yeah. In another month I’ll be starting in to work shortly after dawn and the sun will set before I leave for home. I’m glad I have a window office now 🙂 , but I still hate, hate, hate having to drive home in the dark. One of the reasons I looove Christmas is that I actually see it as a solstice celebration – days getting longer! Yay! But for now, Yuk. ---

I’m with **Khadaji**. There’s nothing about summer that’s better than autumn except for scantily clad (wo)men and I don’t even miss that so much as I love fall fashions as well. ---

OP, I’m with you. If I could, I would cast magic missile at the darkness. Seriously, as another SADer who is also a constant student, I love how I lose energy and feel down at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME as when I really need to ramp my work into gear for the semester. And it starts getting better just as my lack-of-work comes crashing down around me for the winter semester. Traditional school schedules: discriminatory against winter-haters. In fact, I can’t believe it’s 7 pm. I’m certain it’s at least 10. ---

I also dislike driving home in the dark after work, but that seems a very small price to pay for this glorious cool weather. ---

[/QUOTE] Maybe I could enjoy the cooler weather in North Central Florida, where I went to college. Bright sunny days when the temps are in the 60s are my absolute favorite. But in Fort Lauderdale, where it creeps into the 80s in the afternoon? I _still_ need my A/C. If only just one leaf would change colors, I might feel differently!! ---

Now I’m another one who loves it. I love riding the bus home in the evening and seeing the city all lit up. It’s nice and cozy, and I’m a night owl at heart. (It’s also nice not to have to wait for the bus in the morning when it’s almost pitch black.) ---

I think that’s the most poetic Pit OP ever. Nice work. Back when I used to go to the bar after work, I appreciated the shorter days. There’s something just wrong with being drunk before dark.
