When the ricin guy turned out to be a crazy Elvis impersonator, it made me think that the chances of the bomber being exactly the sort of person to back the Tea Party as being small. Because, while the Tea Party organization(s) are dwindling in direct influence, their members or people exactly like their members still have lots and lots of actual political power. And people who have political power don’t engage in terrorism. (Or if they do, then it isn’t classified as terrorism by the government.) The McElvis guy bemoaned the lack of prayer in schools but also thought America engaged in wars for profit. McVeigh was a gun nut who tolerated racism but also claimed that his views formed as a result of seeing the massive _enemy_ casualties in the first Iraq War. Eric Rudolph grew up among out and out racialists, and while he claimed to not be one of them, I can see how that can foster an us against them mentality and willingness to engage in militantism. I am surprised that it apparently turned out to be a Chechen. But after the Ricin incident was made clear, I would have been surprised if it had turned out to be anyone but another lone nut. ---

These are two nutjobs, they are not any label other than psychotic fuckstains. They are a couple of jerkoffs. The reality is that the biggest threat is not organized terror groups, but simply lone nutjobs. Like Jared Lee Loughner or John Allen Muhammad or James Holmes or Eric Rudolph or Timothy McVeigh or Ted Kaczinsky. Their ideology is the crazy fucks and in a country of 350 million they are always going to exist. ---

The US is lucky (in a way) because they have not had to suffer a sustained and coordinated bombing campaign. Over [600 casualties](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provisional_Irish_Republican_Army_campaign_1969%E2%80%931997#Casualties)from the IRA. 27 killed yesterday in a[Baghdad bombing](http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/18/world/meast/iraq-violence/index.html?hpt=hp_t3) As horrific as this incident was, for many countries it has sadly become business as usual. ---
