Bad genes rarely occur in very different groups, so there is less chance of passing the “bad juju”\*. \*This is a scientific term. ---

[The Wikipedia article has some very good cites regarding the name, where it _actually_ comes from (it most likely comes from the Montagnais word meaning “snowshoe-netter”), and whether it ought to be considered offensive.](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eskimo) It’s a much deeper issue than most facile treatments give it credit for being. ---
