As @Maserschmidt said, I deserve and take no credit for it. The term is quite useful since it really fits so much of modern life far beyond websites. Here are the **[22 SDMB threads](https://boards.straightdope.com/search?q=enshittification)** that use the term. So far.

Any coach in his right mind should say “We are on live TV. The opposing coach certainly watches your show, so I’m not going to tell you on live TV what we’re going to do in the second half.”

I’m just waiting for the inevitable breakup and the subsequent #1 hit song that will come from it. And it won’t be just about the heartbreak, but about football, too!

This thread has me wondering if their relationship is just a business arrangement between the NFL and Swift Inc. Look at the cross-promotion possibilities! It’s creating a new “personality” to replace Rodgers.

It makes sense, in a “dystopian science fiction warning story” way.

It’s possible this is all a planned thing, but it could also be the NFL just seizing on the opportunity to get new, young, female eyes watching the Chiefs broadcasts each week. If this works out I would not put it past the league to start trying to hook up players on other teams with other well-known entertainment. Think of the possibilities!!

“We’re going to be doing all play-action fakes and quick screen passes to the left side. A hundred percent.”

It does, there’s no celebrity for pro athletes without their WAG’s ( wives and girlfriends) boosting their popularity.

Oh, the Jets are playing today.

I guess that means that the Hill-Billy Aaron Rogers is going to do nothing today but sit on his ass and try to threaten Travis Kelce or challenge him to a duel.

Sorry, Aaron, but you embody two of the qualities Taylor doesn’t like in a BF:

You’re Lame.

Saturday Night Live (SNL) did a somewhat funny bit on the whole “Swift at NFL (National Football League) games” thing last night. The OP isn’t the only one who’s noticed.

I thought it was funny and the whole Taylor-Kelce thing is romantic and cute. There is a picture of them arriving at SNL and the way he holds her hand and the way she looks at him, there is no way this is fake.

I hope it lasts forever and they have many pretty babies.

“The male arena of sports fandom” is itself, and always was, a soap opera.

Granted the teams and players were always human organizations full of strivers and big egos and colorful characters. just like where you and I work. Veeck was famous precisely because at a time baseball took itself rather seriously, Veeck demonstrably did not. he made sure colorful antics made the news. The rest of baseball was appalled. And more importantly to my argument, did _not_ follow suit in their own promotions, etc.

What is different, and we have the recordings to prove it, is what the game announcing was like 50 years ago and what it’s like now.

Oh, I don’t deny that actual game broadcasts were much more stripped-down, back when media was much less diversified and airtime minutes were more strictly rationed, than nowadays when instantly available content is essentially infinite. I just don’t think that sports fandom itself was ever particularly hostile to fluff and chatter.

I feel you, believe me! I don’t mind them doing it once. After all, she is a major star. I saw this in the game the Bears played against KC, and they showed that shot at least a dozen times.

You’re thinking of NFL shortcuts on directv back when they had the Sunday ticket package. You can still get condensed games (though these ones run closer to 40 minutes rather than 25) by subscribing to NFL+. Same idea, but contains a little more content like some replays.
