# I pit the numbers 2 and 7

I actually pit myself for writing sloppily, but I figure (heh) this will be a more interesting thread title. I was just calculating my taxes and had a little meltdown when I saw I would have to pay in nearly a thousand dollars. I had a snit, a largely selfish rant than spilled over into political diatribe (“fuck Bush!”). Then I reviewed the numbers. I had written some interest payments that were actuall $7—.-- on a worksheet, then added it as if it were a $2—.–. It’s stupid because I usually cross my sevens, but this time I didn’t. I don’t know why I went against habit. It turns out all is well, and there will even be some coming back to me rather than buy shields for a hummer in Iraq or buy milk for impoverished youth. It’ll pay a week’s rent at some cabin this summer instead. What a relief. But fuck Bush anyway.

This is why tax software is worth your money. It does those worksheets for you. Also, 2 and 7 are fairly distinct on a computer screen.
