Ever since the election, it seems like every other thread – even threads that aren’t directly about the guy – have devolved into back-and-forth venting about him, and whether or not the country will be heading directly into a fascist dictatorship come January 20th. Even here in the Pit, threads like “Surprises coming for voters for the Leopards-Eating-Faces Party” and “What were you THINKING?” have turned into this. And, honestly, a lot of it is a relative handful of Dopers, arguing back and forth and back and forth about whether the “truth” is: - “No one will stop Trump now. All of his enemies are going to be killed.” - “We still have courts and laws and the Constitution and such, and it won’t be that bad.” I mean, literally, hundreds and hundreds of these posts, in which posters holding one of the two above POVs keep trying to outshout the other side. I get it that a lot of us are some combination of angry/scared/devastated, and the SDMB gives a place to vent. But, this particular circular argument has **taken over**. ---

I hate it too, and I’m **guilty** of it. I need to not bother responding to those kinds of posts, and not contribute to the problem. I think I’m going to go argue about football instead. ---

Life under Trump will suck, and if people want to argue how much it will suck, all good by me. It’s when it takes over other threads that I get sick of it. Agree with the OP. Enough is enough. We’re a politically aware crowd. I get it. But if you can’t make a post without bringing trump into it, then go play in the trump category and leave the rest of us out of it. I fully recognize that I too have been guilty of this crime in the last few weeks. But I’m consciously trying to knock that crap off. There are plenty of explicitly trumply threads to vent your hobbyhorse. ---

There will be a completely innocuous article like a recipe for baked pasta or something and the top comment will be like “When Trump’s tariffs go into effect you’ll never be able to buy Italian made spaghetti sauce again” or similar bullshit. ---

This being the Pit, I have to seriously question the sincerity (or sanity) of @Czarcasm’s request for examples of trump-related posts in non-trumply threads. Unless he’s simply stopped reading the Dope for the last month and suddenly popped up in this thread all disoriented about the current zeitgeist around here. ---
