I Pit The People Who Make Those Hanging Down Keyboard Drawers For Desks

I must praise my company, since not only do we not have the keyboard tray of doom, but the visit from the ergonomics people actually resulted in my desk being lowered and per my request, my mouse being replaced with a touchpad, which I find causes less wrist strain with the way I use my computer. At home I have a desk with a keyboard tray, but the desk is quite high and the keyboard tray is the entire width of the rest of the desk so it works out pretty well. I’m also short enough that the shortest height on my desk chair at home still requires a phonebook under my feet to meet ergonomic requirements though :smack: . I look like a 12 year old set loose in the office or something.

You played squash with it? :dubious:

Ha! No, just having to repeat the same motion over and over for 8 hours on one of my less keyboard friendly tasks ( curses, Adobe Acrobat) tends to a slight amount of agonising, crippling pain over time. The touch-pad reduces that a wee bit, and thankfully so do some newer automated plugins for Acrobat!

Gee… Mine is great. I have no issues with it whatsoever. It suits me fine. I’m five foot ten (179cm) and I stretch my legs out whenever I’m sitting at a desk. The worst I can say about it is it barely has room for my tiny drawing tablet, so I can’t upgrade to a larger one.

A seven nation army couldn’t hold you back, man.

What the… do you live in Land of the Giants or something?

Apparently, the other people in my office love those things, but I can’t stand them. I’m just waiting for the day I can take the thing off my desk and put it on my co-worker’s desk…ah, bliss for all!

Um…a 6’4" man isn’t a “normal person”. I’m of exact average height and I’ve never had a problem with these things. Be happy with the trillions of other benifits that come with six feet and four inches and let the rest of us have our lowered keyboards.
