I’m from the South. The southwestern corner of Virginia, near the Tennesse, West Virgina, North Carolina borders. Near my hometown that stupid boogaloo movement has some followers. Fucking paranoid idiots who think they are going to rise up and fight the tyrannical new Virginia goverment that wants to ban assault weapons. “And then they come for our rifles and we can’t hunt, and then they come for our handguns and we can’t defend our families from all of the murderous burglers running rampant in our communities. We’re gonna RISE UP” Fuck these idiots. I bet there is not a single one of them that would actually risk their lives for The Cause. Sometimes I wish the entire region, from West Virginia and the western half of Virginia, all the way down south, excluding Florida, would secede. Take your fucking backwoods, backward beliefs, your racism, your misogyny, your suppression of women’s rights, your “What a friend we have in Jeee-zuss” beliefs, your high teen birth rate, your low literacy rates, your high poverty levels, your “right to work” laws, your infrastructure built by the tyrannical federal government, and most importantly, your electoral college votes. Leave. We don’t need you. You are fucking things up for the rest of us. ---

Deep South Arkansas. There are many problems in the south. You named a few of them. I’m a firm believer in my right to bear arms. I agree, assault weapons have no place in a home. The south offers some good things. No need to secede. Education is what’s needed. Lots and lots of education. And, leaders who don’t fan the flames. That would help alot. ---

This sort of supercilious bigotry is pretty common, but it’s still some straight bullshit. When you say Fuck the South, you’re telling Martin Luther King Jr., you’re telling William Barber and Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, you’re telling Nina Simone and Rosa Parks and hundreds of thousands of other folks fighting bigotry and millions of folks living under bigotry that they don’t matter. Yeah, the south has a pretty awful, repressive, theocratic, racist set of governments. But Southerners have done more, by necessity, to fight against injustice than Northerners have ever done. And the folks doing that fighting are every bit as Southern as the folks they’re fighting against. The OP can get fucked. ---

What OP says about the South I see present up here in Michigan. The only difference is the accent.
