Many still are very upset over Trump’s characterizations of some countries as shitholes and some citizens of foreign countries as criminals. What Trump is saying is no more hateful than those who slander a whole region. The only difference is some targets are acceptable here and some aren’t. ---

Worked for a small company in Texas for about two years. The owners were proud, self-righteous church-goers, and they turned out to be dirty as hell. I don’t know about the rest of the South, but I loathe Texans. ---

Literally, or, like, corruption or something? And my uncle used to live in Texas. He’s a good guy. Nowadays he likes to wear a beanie cap for the fun of it. I have never asked his politics and never will. I’m afraid I wouldn’t like the answer. (Not like it’d probably be atypical for the area I’m in anyway.) I do wonder if there’s something about the culture that heightens whatever nationalistic tendencies you have while you’re there, but less so the longer you’ve been away. ---

Down near the border is also very blue. Trump won 52% of the vote. There are lots of liberal Texans. ---

I concede that my perspective might be colored a bit by [my state](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election_in_Idaho#/media/File:Idaho_Presidential_Election_Results_2016.svg). The capital is in one of those red counties, the pale one to the lower left. (I’m not sure _what_ is in the blue ones. Cows? Liberal cows?)
