I pit this violent sexual predator state trooper and the prosecutor who won't prosecute him.

Agreed. This is a badly written article.

If we take the article as true and complete, then all we have is the wife’s word and against the trooper’s word. I suspect there is divorce and custody battle brewing.
The question I was hoping the article would answer is ‘what did the boy say when interviewed?’ If the boy doesn’t testify, then they don’t really have a case. As I understand it, and the SD Legal minds will correct me if I’m wrong, the abuse incident with the prior girlfriend would be inadmissible.

This, however:

sounds awful cowardly for a prosecutor. ‘Oh noes, they might present a defense!’

I just got an email asking if I know this to be true because I beat my kids until they bleed. Quite the opposite-there are threads I’ve posted in where I talked about the physical, sexual and mental abuse I endured growing up, but I didn’t want to sidetrack this thread with those links and just assumed that people would take my statement the way I meant it.

Did you laugh when you posted that?

Do you really think one was necessary?
