# I Pit websites that don’t tell you the price

Same. If your prices are not on your website, and are not in a recent photo on Yelp, I’m skipping you by. There are tons of other places to choose from in the same cuisine, I’m not wasting time on you if this basic and most important piece of info is missing.
What is even more annoying are the places that have online menus to view, but because they are not open at that time, the order page/menu is unavailable. I don’t care that you are closed _now_, I am looking at what to get _later_! Any place that does this gets _immediately_ ignored and I will never go back to give them business.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before, but I can imagine how that would happen. What a pain in the ass!

You’re right. They give away appliances and electronics at bargain basement prices not because they need to clear inventory before the next model year debuts or before the old tech has gone obsolete, but because they’re just so darn _nice_.

I have no idea what you’re trying to hint at. Do you think MAPs don’t exist? Are you saying I’m actually just bad at comparison shopping and don’t know it? Or I’m lying about getting great deals? Or that Target, Best Buy, and Home Depot are just scamming people?
I don’t get it. I especially don’t get what you think in-store advertising has to do with website shopping carts.

I can see that being an issue for paper menus. But if they’re increasing prices so often that updating the website is an issue, then something’s wrong.

I’m, first, trying to hint that a policy that doesn’t apply to in-store advertising wouldn’t be relevant when you’re in their store, and second, that any vendor telling you “We can’t tell you our prices because they’re so low!” almost certainly doesn’t have low prices at all and is trying to rip you off.

I remember a local radio commercial - and keep in mind that local radio is almost by necessity cringy AF - for a liquor store.The announcer said something to the effect of, “prices so low, we can’t tell you.” Although in this particular case I don’t think they were trying to rip anyone off; rather, I think being a liquour store, they couldn’t advertise their prices directly because of Springfield / Sangamon County / Illinois / FCC law.

but such pricing restrictions DO apply to websites and online advertising, which is what we’re talking about in this thread. So yes, it is often the case that websites selling below MAP do require you to add a product to your cart to see the price.
