The attitude pervades are culture to an extent that I was unaware of until my daughter and me walked by a dwarf couple in a book store. She was 10 when this happened and she did a double take and asked me a couple questions that led to yet another lesson on life and empathy. Question 1. Are those real people? Real like us? Or gnomes like in World of Warcraft. No, girl\_octopus those are real people and please don’t stare. Question 2. Can I go and get one and carry it around the store? No, I know you like to lift things and your friends but you can’t just go grabbing dwarves and carrying them around the store. That’s not polite. Moral of the story is short people are people too. ---

So, pretty much how Christian missions operate in Africa : they distribute free food, buuuut you have to convert and come to Church every week and toss your condoms and so on before you can get any. So, it’s no less damaging to society than just cutting all aid for the sake of Ayn Rand, but it’s a bit more slimy and manipulative. ---

It’s odd how bigots are often all “I don’t care if I offend people, I just speak The Truth” and accuse opponents of being professional offence-takers, and yet when they say bigoted things and people call them bigots, they act all offended. If one is supposedly ‘calling things as they are’, then surely it works both ways. I thought these types usually didn’t care what other people think about them anyway so why get so upset about being called one? Be a proud bigot! #BigotPride ---
