When you are having a conversation in real life with someone, you use pauses, inflection and body language to emphasize your point. When you are having a written conversation (such as when posting on a message board), you do not have those tools. I actually went into that thread quite interested (since studies can be interpreted differently so science CAN be opinion) and had to leave because I couldn’t easily understand your posts and the thread didn’t make much sense if I skipped them. I think it was more than grammar. I think his thoughts are confusing. It appears that he thinks he knows more than he actually does. ---

You know, maybe it _is_ a silly expression. I mean, the Nazis didn’t go around correcting Jews and gypsies. A grammar Nazi puts you in a camp. A conversation camp, perhaps. ---

Argue as you wish. Our language enables us to express ourselves in paper-thin degrees of nuance; accompanied with proper punctuation one can post succinct and meaningful messages. Proper use of our language can display a high degree of intelligence and wit; sloppy writings suggest the opposite. Your choice. ---
