Here’s an interesting hypothetical. If our good doctor here were to go and get himself banned for some reason (just make one up here), would inkleberry then be allowed to Pit him, since he’d no longer be a Doper? ---

One thing no one’s mentioned yet…and I think I can speak, because I’ve been the subject of their bitchfests a couple times (that I know of) on the other board. I don’t really have a problem with that board, anymore anyway. It used to bother me more, but now I figure, different strokes, right? I don’t go there, people do, they bitch about people here, that’s OK I guess. If that’s what they want to do. But nearly all of the rest of them manage to keep the two boards _seperate_. It’s just you and your wife that keep bringing them up and trying to cause what? a board war? Why? Let them do their thing…be it bitching, or posting useful information that’s not allowed here, or discussing topics not allowed here, and let us do our thing. The two boards are different. Please, \*keep \* them different. If you just wanted to pit the entire SDMB community, you could have done it without flagrantly breaking the rules, and I know you \*knew \* the rules before you did that, since your wife got smacked down before for doing something similar when she pitted **Evil Captor**. What exactly is your purpose in constantly dragging them into the limelight? ---

The anon journals were not set up only to make fun of people but also to discuss topics that can’t be openly discussed here, point out interesting threads, and engage in pointless idiocies. There have been many different anon journals and every time one closes or shuts down another one opens. I doubt the anon journals will die until the straight dope itself dies. Although most of it is incredibly dumb and petty (sometimes in an amusing way), I have found it very useful on occasion. The sheer hate stuff is kind of dull. Most probably perpetrated by a small number of anonymous people. Other (non hate) criticism posted there can be apt and extremely amusing. For me, snark=/=hate. The discussion of topics that can’t be discussed here is also useful and interesting. Then of course there are those that can’t post here any more because they haven’t paid, or have been banned, so anon communities are a way to still participate in some way. I think you’re right in that they won’t die until some time after this place does (if it ever does).
