I’m with you, Becks. I mean, I’ve only bought them once in the last decade or so, but they were a nice, easy, convenience snack. I actually bought them because I saw them in the freezer and thought, “Steak-Ums…they still make these?” Just never got around to going back to the store I found them at.

My local Krogers usually has beef sliced super thin. Are Steak Ums seasoned or something? Do you have a butcher nearby that could shave some beef really thin?

Fry up some onions and jalapenos, toss in a couple Steak-Ummms and brown them, mix it all up, and throw it on a roll with some provolone and you’ve got a decent-enough Philly cheesesteak.

I forgot all about Steak-Umms, primarily because I haven’t seen them in years. They don’t carry them at either grocery store or at WalMart in my neck of the woods. Beckdawrek, do you have any grocery stores besides WalMart in your area? Some stores will special order for you.

Gotchyer back, Beck. I’m not hugely into steak-ums but I certainly like my share of no-respect, no nutritional value foodstuffs. I will lift one of many fifty cent Sonic corndogs in salute to you come lunchtime tomorrow.
One possible solution for your steak-ums shortage, I’m pretty sure that the clown based international fast food burger emporium and cholesterol distributor uses something _very_ similar for their “steak, egg and cheese bagel” sandwich. My local will sell bulk, frozen food directly from the truck to the customer at something that I’m assuming is something above their cost. This is almost certainly a violation of their franchise agreement but what the clown doesn’t see, yada yada. You might sample one of their “steaks” to see if it is actually comparable and then ask if you can buy a whole case of them. You might have to buy thirty pounds of them but it may just be an option.
Failing that, look for area business that supply frozen foods to restaurants. Many will sell directly to the public if you’re willing to go to their warehouse. I’ll bet vital portions of my anatomy that Sysco offers something like steak-ums.

If all else fails, find a grocery store with a real meat department with butchers and have them ultra thin slice some ribeyes for you. Super One or Albertson’s in Texarkana. Vacuum pack and freeze.

As I HAVE none I looked up Steak-ums label on google. Ingred: Beef. That’s all, no seasoning or fillers.

When you find a product you like, always buy a lifetime supply because they will stop making/carrying it.

I have seen some doner kebabs that were unmistakably reconstituted meat. They must get it from somewhere. Not sure what you’d do with an entire meat cone, but I guess you could freeze it. Or just go out to eat a kebab.

Around here, there are local stores that, if you ask them to, they’ll look into carrying stuff. Walmart isn’t the greatest for this, but smaller local stores will do it, especially if they know you’ll come in and buy a bunch. That’s how I got my Lay’s Stax to come back. which I now buy by the case (as they are the one thing I can eat even when my stomach issues won’t let me eat anything else).
So, anyways, maybe try asking around if any nearby stores would carry them for ya.

I’m not _from_ Philthadelphia, but I lived there for four long, awful years. I’d eat the sandwhich you’re describing, but ffs it ain’t a Philly cheesesteak.
