and boy, am I relieved. This job has been going badly for over a year now, with a bad company, a bad supervisor, and bad management, and the only thing I regret is that I wasn’t able to get another job first. There comes a time, however, when your mental and physical health has to come before practical considerations. So, sayonara, suckers. I’m done beating my head against this particular wall. ---

Amen, sister! Some people seem to think that hanging onto a job that is sucking the very life of you is always what you _must_ do, but that’s not necessarily the case. Sometimes, things get _so_ bad and _so_ awful, that bailing out is the only sane choice. Good luck to you! Congratulations on your freedom! ---

Congratulations, featherlou!! I’m so happy for you. I did the same thing last month, and haven’t regretted it at all. It’s much better to be able to dedicate your time to finding something you love rather than wasting your time where you’re miserable. Good for you! ---

Thanks for the support. This was an incredibly tough decision, but when my co-worker started losing her temper again this morning, and I heard how our supervisor said she didn’t want to hear any more complaining from us and if we didn’t like it we should quit, it just seemed to be the thing to do. Nothing like telling your workers they should just quit if they don’t like their miserable working conditions - some of us will actually take you up on it. ---

And took a few to quit, because I had the deer-in-the-headlights, nowhere else to go perspective working. As soon as I finally quit, horizons opened up. I’m never gonna understand the business modality that seems to think “Making one’s employees stressed out and miserable can increase production and be generally good for business.” Has it ever worked, except in the extremely short run? ---

It wasn’t the management or my direct boss, but that I was in a job I shouldn’t have been in. I knew I should leave, but I didn’t. I got to the point that I was physically ill every morning before leaving my apartment and still didn’t go. When it hit me was when I started thinking how nice it would be to have a car accident on the weekend in which I broke my leg or something - or if I accidentally slipped and got my leg caught between the train and the platform during my commute - I didn’t want to die, I just wanted to be injured enough that I couldn’t go in to work for a while. I’m much happier now - and I will not allow myself to end up in that situation again. Leaving a job is much easier than staying in one I hate. ---

Congrats **featherlou**. I am glad that you are finally free of a job you hate. I recently left a job that I began to hate. It’s been great, I have had so much fun at home with my kids. I can tell our home life is going much smoother as a whole. I didn’t realize when I was stressed it carried over to the kids. Mornings are less crazy, so the day goes better for everyone. Oh My Gosh. I am not the only one! I used to have fantasies like that all the time! It wasn’t like the job was always, always miserable. But there were stresses and perils that were beyond unreasonable, and I knew that they were there, hanging over my head, all the time. Also, we never got any time off. Never. Except for vacation time (which was, to be fair, reasonably generous) I never, never had a holiday off. Worked Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving, etc. etc. You start to dream of getting sick or twisting an ankle just so you can get a few days off. ---

I quit my horrible job on monday…and I’m loving the chase of finding new and better employment. I have ome to the conclusion that life is too short to be working for people who treat anyone like they are anything less than human. My final straw was being told that I’d have to work for less than minimum just because a cow-orker was out sick. ---
