Yeah, I’m pretty much a pansy when it comes to running in extreme hot or extreme cold weather. I can’t imagine doing something like that.
That’s great that you’ve stuck with it this far – It’s all downhill from here! (downhill being a good thing when you’re running…)
You ran 50 miles? Don’t you have a car?
Running On The Sun: The Badwater 135
Excellent documentary.
This is my favorite part … “only seven miles to go” like most people would consider even seven miles doable.
Well, the point where I knew I was insane was at the second to last aid station when one of the volunteers said “only 13 miles to go.” And I caught myself thinking, ah, that’s hardly anything! Of course, after I analyzed that thought for a few minutes (you have a lot of time to think when running for 10 hours), I realized how crazy that really sounded.
Doesn’t it get lonely?
Wow! That is awesome, and more than a little inspiring. I completed the Couch to 5 K last year, but I stopped running when the snow hit the ground in December and I haven’t picked up since. I’d never be able to hit long distances, but I can certainly get off my fat ass and hit the pavement around the 'hood.
Congratulations on your race!
50 frikkin’ miles… I bet if you painted it you could see it from space.
Dude, that’s just an awesome story. When I arrived in Leadville for an Outward Bound course the first thing they had us do was run several miles. The half that finished first went on one trip and those finishing later went on another. I remember the altitude being a real bear.
Seriously… way to go. I am appropriately impressed.
Some people would say so, but it’s nice to have some time to be introspective in such an inspirational setting.
There are other people running the course, but after the first few miles, you don’t see too many of them, but it’s typical to have a brief conversation with someone as you pass them (or they pass you, as the case may be).
