I ran over a pigeon

If you hadn’t run over that pigeon, it probably would have suffered a slow and more painful death from a cat or something. So you shouldn’t feel bad.

Though I’m ashamed of myself, I have to post

It’s not against any religion
To want to dispose of a pigeon

Somewhere, a statue stands, wondering why it hasn’t been crapped on yet …

A route I drive daily has sections where frogs cross the road during breeding season or on wet nights. Even creeping along at 10 mph sometimes I squash them, and it bothers me.

Sometimes critters in the road are unbelievably oblivious. I was driving a back road once and spotted a chipmunk sitting in the middle of my lane, gnawing cheerfully on some goodie clutched in its paws. I slowed my car. It sat there. I stopped the car and waited to see a little brown flash disappear into the stone wall on the shoulder.

No flash. I got out of the car and walked around to the front. The chipmunk was still sitting there, still gnawing away, totally oblivious to the metal mass of doom looming over it, inches away. I had to yell and stamp my feet to make it bolt to safety.

I try to avoid hitting animals as well, but the other day, I had a bird dive bomb my grill – honestly dive bomb my grill (and yes, it went crunch).

It swooped up, did a loop and flew down at top speed into the grill of my little Kia Rio Cinco.

I’ve never seen anything like it. I couldn’t have avoided it in any way and because it commtted suicide refuse to feel sorry for the little monster.

You hear me, I refuse!

Driving down the expressway a few years ago. I hit a seagull that was flying across the road. I killed iinstantly and it bounced straight up into the air and landed on the windshield of the car following me. It was a convertable with the top down. the shock on the face of the couple in back of us was obvious. They were about 2 feet from a real disaster though.
