My cat finds the idea intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Oh, that was YOUR cat* on the back porch yowling? Sorry, I didn’t know. I gave her a Pounce treat and tossed her over the fence (gently.) You oughta bring her in before the coyotes come out tonight.
Back on the subject of the leafblower, one of my friends suggested I ask the neighbor how he can stand being closer to that annoying noise than I am. I don’t know the guy, and I’m hesitant to have our introduction be complaint-based. There’s some good advice in here, though, and my thanks. I will see if he plans to do this regularly - if it’s more than once a week, I honestly don’t think I can take it. We DO have a homeowners’ association, that’s a GREAT idea, and I will contact them if there’s a repeat of this. He probably ISN’T breaking any laws, but he’s being very inconsiderate. Again, thanks all!
(*I’ve just hijacked my own thread with a whole 'nother rant, but I’m a little worried about the little bugger. She was friendly as hell and was wearing a flea collar, but it’s not safe outside for kitties and my three will not stand for interlopers.)
Well, LifeOnWry, I DO have the neighbor that blows the grass, leaves, ants, and fleas from his 3/4 acre yard. Every. Single. Day. He and his wife have the most beautiful yard but they spend 12 hours a day primping, planting, and plowing in their yard. Ugh.
I’m bookmarking this thread in case I ever get the faintest inkling of wanting to move out of the city to the suburbs. Hell on earth I tells ya.
Check the bylaws of your HO association, but please, do approach the guy in a neighborly fashion beforehand. Lots of problems that could be handled easily by mature adults get turned into confrontations because someone sicced the authorities on someone else. Try the nice way, first, and if THAT doesn’t work, then go to the HOA.
Trust me, it’s not like he won’t know who complained if he gets a note in his mailbox.
I’d approach him first too. I’d personally be pissed if anyone reported me without saying anything to my face.
And before you do, be sure that you don’t do **anything ** that annoys people.
Is he an older man? Gas blowers are heavier and it’s physically harder to rake than blow.
I had neighbors I like to call the “Perfectons”. Everything about their home and yard was perfect. Mr. Perfecton would pre-empt having to blow leaves off the lawn by blowing them out of the trees first! He had a miner’s head lamp he wore at night so he could make the best use of his time and sand his boat into the wee hours.
OMG, that’s hilarious!! My sister’s neighbor is on his roof every day with the leaf blower.
We have so many trees that you almost have to blow or rake daily in the fall. I’m talking about mountains of leaves. I’m always worried about fires in my driveway due to leaves after a friends car caught on fire.
Print out some articles about leaf mulching with his lawnmower and give them to him. Mulching your leaves is much better for your lawn.
Just hearing about these people is annoying me. Were you ever tempted to take industrial-strength fertilizer and paint obscene words on his front lawn with it?
