I dunno… if by “classical music interpretations like this” you mean vocals set to Beethoven, I remember the 80s pop song [Midnight Blue](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yjug7JtmUEI) based on his Pathetique Sonata.

I couldn’t stand listening to the whole thing. I don’t mind the vocal part, but the orchestra seriously lacked the dimensionality of the original. And the piano just seemed out of place.

Search YouTube for “Nella Fantasia” - it’s a similar adaptation… of Ennio Morricone’s music from “The Mission”, specifically “Gabriel’s Oboe” aka “The Most Beautiful Melody of All Time”.
