…despite being able to afford it. What is wrong with me!? There is one thing I love more than good music and that’s music played on a GOOD SOUND SYSTEM! Bad music played on a good sound system is better than good music played on an average sound system IMO. I was blown away by my dad’s multi-thousand pound music system when I played enya on it. And I have to make do with a PC, soundblaster 128 soundcard, and 40watt speakers. When I get my next pay check (which includes a healthy christmas bonus) I am going to force myself to buy a bose waveradio/cd if it kills me. I know there are probably better/cheaper ways to hear music properly but I am just so lazy. Sorry if this is a stupid/lame rant. My desire to post overhwhelms my respect for the informal sdmb rules whenever I have been drinking. And tonight is one of those occasions. ---

I thought Bose was good, until I went to a specialty audiophile shop. Being a big spender, I asked the salesman to show me ‘some really highend stuff’. At ~$20,000 PER FREAKING SPEAKER. I settled on BNW’s, but holy crap. 20 grand. ---

For that authentic Bose experience you could simply pop into your local high street electronics shop, buy the first mini-system you see, then go home and set fire to about a thousand quid whilst you listen to your new purchase. ---

I’ve got one of the wave radio things. It’s useful in the bedroom as an alarm clock/occasionally used radio. I’ve also got a pretty good (non-Bose) system in the house. JSB’s Toccata & Fugue will make the foundations shake. And, I use one of the computers to play background crap while I’m working. It’s got a soundblaster, and a cheapish cambridge speaker set up. From listening to these things for years, I conclude: 1. Real system much better than PC or wave radio (well, duh). 2. PC much better than wave radio. ---

You know what is really bad… I recently was admitted as a solicitor after 2 years of shithouse wages as an articled clerk. I had my first day off in 2.5 years, and I ended up spending 5 grand on a new TV, DVD, Reciever and Surround sound system, because I could. The only good thing about it is that I got a Les Mis DVD and a Paul Simon DVD with it. - Bubba. ---
