I remember the life-sized Snoopy on his doghouse that you sculpted in snow one winter. I remember all the little hand-crafted, candy-filled surprises you set out for us kids on special mornings like Valentine’s Day and May Day. I remember you tapping your wedding ring on a window when you wanted the attention of someone outside. I remember you keeping us kids entertained on the two-hour drives to Chicago. I remember your sewing room, your garden, your potted plants, and your fish. I remember getting advice from you the night before I left for basic training. I remember you having to keep asking where the bathroom is the last time you came to visit. I will remember the call from Dad this morning; we had a bad connection or something but I could make out that you had lost your 6-year battle with Alzheimer’s. I doubt I will be able to make it down to Beaumont any time soon so this will have to do. 'Bye, Mom. ---

It sounds like your mom loved her kids, as well as having her own life and interests. I am sorry she’s gone. Sorry for the disease that took her away from you sooner than death, even. ---

Wow. Nice tribute. I’ve got water in my eyes and its running down my cheeks as I write this, and Im supposed to be all professional and stuff. If you need to talk to make sense of any of it, pm me. I am a nurse who works with Alz. patients, etc. Any mom would be so proud of such a tribute. I am sorry you lost such a cool sounding woman. ---
