I’m the exact opposite, CrazyCatLady. Crochet scares the bejesus out of me, although the patterns I’ve seen in the “BUY ME” supply books are much prettier and ornate than the knitted ones.
Ah well. One of these days I’ll put my mind to it. I’m able to crochet quick loops for my potholders, but they’re nothing I want people to take a close look at.
With knitting, you cast on a row of stitches on one needle, then use the other needle to pull the yarn through the cast on stitch and pull it off, creating a new stitch on the other, empty needle.
…And it’s a bitch to get the hang of when you’ve been crocheting for a long time. I also don’t get the gratification out of knitting - it just takes too darned long, and my tension sucks, and I don’t have the patience.
I think it’s just garter stitch (knit every row). Many websites have the colors, but this is the most obsessive. Looks like you’ll have to choose a season . . . or knit all 4.
