I have vowed not to leave the apartment today except to check my mail. Yesterday’s misadventure cured my need to leave. The sun is shining today with all the sincerity of a Miss America contestant: it wants world peace and to warm the freezing humans but knows it can’t do either one. Promises are easy when you know you can’t fulfill them. High today: 30º F. Tomorrow I have to brave the elements to get an MRI. I’m hopeful they’ll figure out what’s wrong with my back. I’m going to take the bus there, as they’re running, and Uber is an iffy proposition these days. It’ll mean walking a few blocks in the snow and rain. It sucks when crud that (indirectly?) affects you happens and you have no control over it, and I hope it doesn’t remove Dream Lover. I guess all you can do is trust your future self to deal with it and get lots of cat-rat-snake therapy. ---

My dad is legally blind and so stooped he can’t pick his head up to see where he is going. I was about ready to call the DMV and report him, but he agreed to stop before it came to that. I was very worried he would hurt someone (or worse). **BooFae** reach out when Easter gets closer. I live not far from SF, and would be happy to help you find fun spots to visit if your planned stops won’t work. There’s a lot to see both North and South of the Golden Gate. Today Carvana is picking up my Ford Expedition. We don’t have a trailer anymore, so I don’t need it to tow. It drives like a truck, so it’s really hard on my back. I like lots of things about it, but it’s just not a good fit. My son, now closing in on 6’4", is unhappy, but we’ll make our little SUV work for now. Akiko has been very snuggly today, and she has checked out Pixel’s spot on the bed several times. I wouldn’t say she’s mourning, but she has noticed. Yoshi, bless his heart, seems oblivious. My daughter likes to say there’s no one at home behind his eyes. He’s very sweet, but not very smart. It works out because it turns out one smart dog is plenty. Well, Pixel was smart but he was too small to open doors. Life gets interesting when your dog can open doors. Thank you for all of your well wishes. It helps. My hugs and well wishes to all of you as well. ---

Except for the Great Escape Caper, when they clearly worked together, they basically ignored each other. Still, when we got the lab, the setter quit pulling sheet, blanket, and spread off our bed. And when the setter died, the lab seemed insecure and fearful. Sending Akiko comforting pats. The hospital called. For some reason, they closed the imaging center, so my MRI will be at the hospital. That’s closer to the bus stop, so I’m happy about that. I hope my head won’t be too far inside the machine. I’m not claustrophobic, but isolation with deafening noises makes me want to confess to crimes I didn’t commit. ---

I hope that everything works out for the good at irk **shoe**. **nellie** , is there a med taxi type thing in your neighborhood? We have a service for seniors and the disabled that can be called for transportation to medical appointments and such. **sunny** , skritches to Akiko and Yoshi. IMHO, they know. Got the grocery shopping out of the way and prepped breakfasts / lunches for tomorrow and next week. It’s still raining intermittently, so no dog park. However, we’ve played a lot of fetch and tug of war inside (Sis made him a couple of the tug of war toys that he likes from the inseams of old blue jeans for Xmas). Supper was some soup and a baked sweet potato. ---

Howdy Y’all! We did all the things. No keys were found at the church house. I even looked under all the cushions in the pews, under pews and in the hymnal/prayer book racks. Plus even checked the men’s room since it is a guy who lost keys. If they are in the ladies room, then shame on him! I did not look in there. Sup has been et and the kitchen cleanded up. Chillage ensues. **{{{Shoe}}}** hope the irk drama is over soonest and that Crushy Poo remains. **red** if I lived next door, Nelson would be beyond spoiled. Unca swampy is notorious for that. ---

Howdy all. Mail finally showed up and was pitched into the trash or shredder as required. Did manage to type my checking records into a spreadsheet I’ve had since 2005 (why, I don’t know). Long hot bath and long nap were the major accomplishments of the afternoon, like **nellie** I have been a homebody today. Need to do some reading later on in the evening after dinner, but nothing else is on the agenda, OK, need to prepare some dinner and be about the evening. All y’all take care. ---

**swampy** and **nellie** , either of you is welcome to move next door to me. My now former neighbor moved into the assisted living unit that he’d been trying to get into while I was in Texas. He was a good neighbor and I’ll miss him. I hope the next tenant is just as good. ---

In happier news, the current drama is over. Management had a stern chat with the parties involved and all has been smoothed over. **Inappropriate Crushy-Poo** will be there tomorrow morning. I may have to brush my hair for the occasion. I’m so _relieved_ the tension is gone and that we didn’t lose two good managers in one day. Was hungry for dinner for the 1st time in a long while. ---

Bah humbug. Talked with a colleague who is visiting from Europe as well. Everything is cold and white, with a bit of sand in a few spots. Made it to the mall today, which was weird. The weather is really interfering with “normal life”. Many places have reduced hours or are just closed, because people can’t get to work. Must be a lot of managers pulling out their hair in frustration. Good news, that I managed to make new appointments for the PCR tests. Unfortunately the other clinic was closed so I haven’t been able to cancel the prevous app, ---

I did my best to avoid it but sometimes innocent bystanders get sucked in. I’m glad you didn’t lose good managers, they are hard to find. My last supervisor was so bad that I walked into work, had problems with my comp syncing with the network, knew that she was going to send me a snarky IM telling me to come to her office to explain why it was taking me almost 3 minutes to get logged on. While I was waiting for everything to sync, I had time to realize that if I walked at that minute, it would cost me three bucks a month in retirement. I walked. (I also threw her under the bus with HR and that along with other drama caused her to be told to resign or be fired.) Happy news I got about my retirement is that I am going to get a nice raise at the beginning of the fiscal year. I thought that amount would never change so hurray. More hugs to **Sunny** , I know how much it hurts to hear something and look to see if it’s a lost pet. When we have lost one of our cats, the others reacted to the absence. Cats are colony animals which is much different than pack animals. I so wish you were our neighbor instead of the ones who get dogs to leave out in the yard day and night. Very Good Cat took a dislike to Gormless George a couple of months ago. The next day, he attacked Very Bad Cat. VGC turned into Not So Good Cat went to the vet who couldn’t find a physical issue and NSGC now lives in our bedroom. He pretty much lived on the tree by the window before this so no issue for him. We are pretty sure that NSGC was inbred, he’s not very smart and he can’t jump. His legs are bowed and kinda funny looking. We put up a baby gate to allow NSGC to look out and GG to see NSGC. NSGC can’t jump the gate. George is a young 13 lb cat and NSGC is a disabled 16 year old 10 lb shorthair. Today GG jumped the baby gate. NSGC took offense to GG in his territory and attacked and poor GG fled for the baby gate but forgot that he could jump. The screaming was horrible. The spray bottle was deployed, gate was opened and GG fled. Hubs grabbed NSGC and checked his mouth for fur cause hairballs and such. No fur and none on the floor. ---

All caught up on the MMP. So sorry **Sunny**. When Louie passed our cat for sure looked for him. Rainbow was a sign. Glad work woes worked out **Shoe** and \*\* Nellie\*\* like **Red** I wish I could drive you. Sad situation with the folks **FCM**. My Mother died from a brain injury due to a fall. I hope something gives there. I made the trek yesterday to get my IPad repaired. Yay. Forgot to drop the cable boxes off until they had closed. Didn’t have the correct receipt to return the blinds but it’s here. So another foray is in order soon. I went and had Bloody Mary’s and lunch while waiting instead of taking care of my business but had fun. Dresser lady is coming in a few hours and I haven’t emptied it yet.so that’s why I’m up so early. Awoke at 330 to the cat crying to go out, walked the dog, took my pills, made an iced coffee and read a whole bunch of posts to be caught up. And this young school teacher said she could not afford the loveseat she was going to buy but still wants the dressers so I told her she could have it for free. I need it gone. She must be recently divorced as she said this is the first time she’s ever had to pay rent. Whatever, I won’t miss the money and she can use it. **Red** I thought you were visiting your Father or is he in Texas? I don’t know why I thought he was up north. Off now to empty those drawers. ---
