How cool is that? I had never seen that before. I guess they want to keep the salt off his feet. I was surprised at how well he walked in four shoes. ---

Was the dog also wearing a negligee? And was the dog wearing golf shoes? If so, I think I know who the owner was. (She’s into urine and urine analysis, BTW.) ---

The first winter we had the late, great Mojo, we got him some felt booties for the salt, since we lived in an apartment complex that salted the walks and driveways. I wish we’d had a video camera. He was picking his feet way up, and didn’t think he could walk in them. Then he ate one. Road to hell and all that, I guess. ---

A good friend has rescue racing greyhounds, one of which has some problems with her feet, so she walks her around the neighborhood in [these little booties](http://www.therapaw.com/Therapaw.asp). [/QUOTE] Oooh, I wish I’d known about the TheraPaws a few years ago! My much-loved pooch had to have a toe amputated–bone cancer–and the aftercare was a bitch (forgive the phrase). To keep the bandages clean and dry I had to put an infant sock onto her paw, wrapping the top in that brightly colored stretchy stuff to keep it in place. She _hated_ it. I’d turn around and the furry genius would have the tape unwrapped and her sock off. The booties are a wonderful idea! ---

I see that all the time in Chicago. Sometimes it’s cute, like the little booties to protect their paws from the ice and salt. Sometimes it’s excessive by adding a matching sweater and bow on their head. :rolleyes: I can’t even keep track of how many times I’ve seen guys walking boxers, or other manly dogs, wearing a pink sweater with a matching pink leash. And no it wasn’t in Boystown! ---

I bought boots like that for my golden retriever/chow, Mandy, when we lived in Denver, to keep the snow from getting between her toes and in between her pads. She absolutely loved the winter weather and would gallumph through the snow in the yard and run around scooping it up in her mouth. Then we moved to Tucson and the boots became very handy in the summer to keep the hot ground from burning her feet. So they’re a good idea no matter where you live or what the weather is. ---

I’ve put booties on my dog and my brother’s dog before. Seeing those dogs try to run around for the first time with these THINGS stuck to their feet was the funniest thing I had ever seen in my life. EVER. Kind of like **Renee** ’s video but they were running, trying to get away from the boots. And they’re bigger dogs. I’m cracking up just thinking about it! ---

I was in Saratoga Springs NY two weeks ago and many of the dogs there had little booties on. It was bitter cold and I assumed they were to help keep the dogs feet from getting too cold. ---

We had a ridiculous little shih tzu when I was a kid. (Said with great affection, but let’s face it, that dog was ridiculous.) Her paws would get frozen in the winter, and she’d pick up one at a time when she was on her walks. She’d fall behind, and then I’d feel from the leash that she was limping. Then she’d pick up a second paw, diagonal to the first. Movement wasn’t really possible then. As I tugged her along, she’d usually pick up a third. And of course fall into the snow. As I said, this wasn’t the brightest of dogs. So I’d pick her up and carry her home. One year, my mother got her a set of doggy boots to combat this annoying trait. We took her out in them, and she picked up one paw at a time, shook the boot off, and then carried on her way. Oh well, you just can’t help some people. Uh, dogs. I was in Ottawa last weekend during a big storm, and saw a boxer out walking in boots. He had them only on his back paws, and was dragging them behind him. Either his owners were trying to train him, or he had already disposed of the other two. Whichever it was, he was pretty cute. ---
