That’s not all they throw out. We’ve had two litters of kittens at my shelter that were taken out of Dumpsters. With one, a volunteer SAW someone throw a box of six kittens in the dumpster, in July, in 100 degree heat. She ran out and confronted him and of course he denied it. She climbed into the Dumpster and looked frantically but could only find five of the kittens. They were about 1 week old at the time.

This was within 1 mile of four vets and two shelters. But this guy had to throw them into a Dumpster instead.

Nothing people do with respect to treating animals like garbage surprises me anymore.

Well that’s not entirely true. I came home once to find my plecostamus on the tile floor. He was sorta stiff and dry as leather. I thought he was dead until he blinked so I put him back in the water. He sort of drifted to the bottom and stayed there for a couple of hours, I guess he was too pooped to suck. By the next morning he was stuck to this little ornamental sign that he loved apparently no worse for the wear.

It wasn’t the last time he hopped out of the tank either. I guess he had the wanderlust.
