# I "see" sounds when I close my eyes. When I close my eyes and listen, I can “see” the sounds in colors. Sometimes they’re shapes, like my cat’s meow is a forest green square with a circle of mint green in the lower right corner or applause is a flashing circle of mermaid turquoise blue. But it’s usually just shapeless, and the colors stay the same, like my cat’s purr is always watermelon-minty green and a blob of rhubarb pink at the bottom, but the shapes change. Is this synesthesia or does everyone have it? ---

Everyone doesn’t have it. Sounds like synesthesia, more specifically [chromesthesia,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromesthesia) a specific form of synesthesia. ---
