I start radiation tomorrow

Your radiation experience might well be arduous, ivylass.

There are plenty of posts in other threads by Dopers who experienced nausea, vomiting, food tasting terrible, etc. I don’t like telling you this, but you must be ready for these possibilities.

As I mentioned earlier, I kinda sailed through it all, but my Radiation Oncologist admitted “You were lucky, BarnOwl.”

I hope you’re even luckier.

Pew! Pew! Pew! (there are sound effects, right?)

Either way, go get 'em! Bonne Chance!

Let’s see, I’m in the Central Time zone. I’ll say a prayer for you at 6:30 my time.

Actually, when I’ve had procedures for my kidney(s) I need the hand holding and prayers/good thoughts, beforehand. I get nervous.

I really hope this goes well for you.

Hey, kiddo. It’s early morning and you are on my mind. I’m hoping you breeze through this. I will remember your strength and your attitude. That will be in your favor!

Is your udder cream the stuff in that square green can? I think it may have a few spots of pink on it and cow udders on the lid! I used to keep some in my bathroom just to make people laugh. Can’t think of the name of it though…

Make it a good, healing day!

Best of luck to you Ivylass. I’ll be thinking about you. Take care.

Adding to the good wishes! Sorry I’m late, as usual. I hope your treatment is as easy as falling off a log. Um, without the risk of injury. Feel free to vent as needed. You’ve been a real rock through this! Make that “You rock!!”

Wow, all this zapping, burning, torture. Remember how much you are suffering when it comes time for the TREATS!!!

I think a nice milkshake, banana split, french fry order, oysters, or whatever floats your boat is in order post-treatment. Gotta keep your strength up!

You deserve them all. It’s strictly for medicinal/mental health/psychic reasons, isn’t it?

I got zapped and was only about 15 minutes late to work. My boss is okay with it, of course.

They calibrate down to the millimeter, so hopefully there won’t be any spillover. It’s my left breast, so there is concern about radiation hitting my heart, but the way I lay on the table is supposed to pull my heart back further into my chest.

I’ve been told to expect a run-down feeling as the treatments go on. I’m supposed to drink two quarts of water a day, so I shall work on that.

I did find out that they can only do radiation treatments once. If the cancer comes back in my left breast, the only option I’ll have is a mastectomy.

One down, 32 to go!

Have you considered CyberKnife?

Don’t laugh. Google.

ivylass, about the Atomic Bombardment? Purely in the interests of [del]Mad[/del] Science, tell us if–

[li]You begin to grow to around…oh…49 or 50 feet tall.[/li][li]Become Green. And Angry.[/li][li]Develop glowing eyes.[/li][li]Gain the ability to breath radioactive fire[/li][li]Acquire a yen to feed off the life-force of mere males[/li][li]Or just get an urge to destroy downtown Tokyo in general…hmmm?[/li][/ul]

I don’t believe in luck, sending positive thoughts, God, or other stuff like that. But I can pretend to. I hope everything turns out the best possible way.

I wish you all the best. I know of several people (friends) who have come through Chemo and Radiation, in total remission. Hang in there.
Jack

Best of luck Ivylass :).

Ivylass, you couldn’t ask for a better bunch of friends than those right here. I’ll be thinking about you and wishing you all the best too!

Bill

Found it. That’s fascinating. I love the advances in medical technology…it’s amazing how far we’ve come in even the past five years.
