There’s considerable disagreement as to whether Justice Scalia is a homophobe. Some people believe that he is – and I take no position on whether he is or not – but certainly it’s true that there’s no scientific answer to that question at this point in time. I also take no position on whether **doorhinge** was being deliberately obtuse in his replies to me in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=686240). Maybe you’d have to be a complete idiot to fail to recognize that asking a question and suggesting both sides _might_ be true is not always a neutral statement, or maybe not, who can say? Some people would say you’d have to have your head pretty far up your own ass not to understand these rhetorical games, and some people wouldn’t say that. I’m just giving both sides of the argument so I can hear what my fellow Dopers have to say in response. ---
