After that, she slimmed down and looked much better (MTM was always too skinny for my tastes), so they tried rewriting the character as someone who used to be dumpy but was now good looking but still thinks she’s dumpy. That was difficult to characterize for a supporting character, and Rhoda ended up being spun off into her own show, anyway.
