I certainly agree that the OP was being a jerk. However, I do feel that all the people who have already convicted Kane are also being jerks. Sure, the OP elevates sports figures sometimes. But it’s also true that whenever any sports figure or any public figure at all is accused of some outrageous behavior, many people try them and convict them in public and then cry out for them to lose their jobs. I find this to be a frightening trend. Accusations are easy to make. Sometimes they get proven in a court of law and sometimes they don’t. I’m sorry for the accused that they don’t get to be innocent until proven guilty. ---

Like it or not, Kane is a public figure, and he doesn’t exactly have the greatest reputation. Nobody, however, suggested that Kane should be doxxed (his personal information revealed), or that he should be harassed and hounded as **dalej42** implied the accuser should be. His comments went beyond “innocent until proven guilty”. It was “how dare this whore accuse one of my favorite players of rape, she’s obviously lying.” Not one person said anything about Kane as nasty as **dale** did about the accuser. And FWIW, if **dalej42** wanted to say he thinks Kane is innocent and the charges are false, that would be one thing. But that wasn’t what he did. He was using it as expound on one of his pet issues. ---

I’d like to point out that DaleJ said on the thread that he wanted her name because she needs to be told to her face that she was a white or something like that. So I think it’s reasonable to assume that he intended to encourage harassment of her. He should be banned and banned hard. ---

The behavior described in the OP fell under the heading of jerkitude, invading privacy and harassment. Warnings and suspensions are all fine and well, but so are instabans. We really don’t want this kind of crap here. I’m not calling for the OP’s banning though. I’m saying that all options should be on the table given the offense, now and forever. The real mitigating factor IMHO would involve judgment about whether the poster in question can follow mod instructions moving forwards. But a warning is pretty much given.
