**Ibn Warraq** , I’ve been reading the whole exchange between you and **Deeg** and I’m s **k** eptical of the way you’re framing **Deeg** ’s point.

Yes, you’re using Quotes. Yes, I have **Deeg** ’s posts in front of me to read for myself. Still, how do I know the Mods haven’t enabled your account to allow you to edit other member’s posts? Or, even without the mods enabling you, you could be some kind of master hacker and you’ve managed to edit **Deeg** ’s posts that way. Even easier, you may have gotten **Deeg** ’s password and you’re making those posts yourself.

I’ve done a Google search and all results for **Deeg** ’s quotes and yours just come back to this Thread.

Until I hear an audio recording of **Deeg** making those arguments, I will have to assume you’re making it all up.

I refuse to base judgement on unsubstantiated hear-say. I can believe that Paul said it but without more proof it’s just a rumour to me. Calling my position moronic or idiotic will not make one difference to me.

This seems like fairly explosive comment by Paul that, if true, is damning and I’m surprised it’s not reported elsewhere. I did a search for the exact text so maybe Salon was paraphrasing?

Maybe if it actually was a fairly explosive comment it might get more attention. But as you can see in this very thread, Ron Paul supporters don’t give a shit even when they accept the quote as true.

I’m not saying it’s impossible that Paul made that quote but there’s a lot of dirt in politics and I’d prefer to see it collaborated. There are plenty of semi-reputable sites that say Obama is not a US citizen and we know how true that is.

Name some of them. Name some of these semi-reputable sites that say that Obama is not a US citizen. I _really_ want to see these sites, sites that you consider to have a reputation on par with Salon, that say that Obama is not a US citizen.

First off, the story is from 2007 and it’s old news. That’s the main reason you’re not hearing much about it. The newsletter thing came up in the 2008 campaign too, and it’s not getting that much attention this time around either. It’s not a story that comes from one of Paul’s rivals. It’s a comment Paul himself made to a reporter. Salon printed the story, Paul’s people didn’t challenge it. You’re not going to see any other corroboration.

**Marley** , I would just like to thank you for using the correct term here. The search for “collaboration” of the quote was bugging me.

Even though he’ll get my vote, I’ve never thought he had a legitimate shot to win. The message is growing and will continue on after the elections, and, that’s good enough for me at this time. You can already see it having effects (Obama today saying he wants to streamline gov’t agencies to reduce government spending).

> This is a great example of why people sense a disingenuousness in a lot of arguments for libertarianism: the Defense of Marriage Act ensures the federal government does not recognize gay marriage…

It also gives states authority to not give FFC to another states recognition of SSM;

§ 1738C. Certain acts, records, and proceedings and the effect thereof
No State, territory, or possession of the United States, or Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a relationship between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right or claim arising from such relationship.

The FFC clause gives Congress the right to decide what acts and records must be recognized by other states, DOMA is based on FFC.

…Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof…

On the basis of DOMA and as the US SC has already ruled same SSM’s do not violate the federal constitution, states rule that under thier own Constitution’s or by Amendment’s, they will not recognize SSM’s.

I don’t think this is true. I think it’s more like (a) he doesn’t have that politician filter to give foggy answers to controversial questions and/or (b) he doesn’t really care to give them.

There’s no doubt that Paul has the most motivated base out there (all I see in rural New York are Paul signs and banners, many handmade, which was exactly how it was in 2008 until Obama was nominated). He would also be the easiest nominee for Obama to craft a strategy against. His fans forget that his views are not only far from the middle of the road on many topics, but are really easy to characterize (or mischaracterize, if you prefer) in terms that will frighten people.

Ron Paul is clearly ahead but the corporate media are ignoring him and the electoral fraud that is/has been perpetrated against him is holding him back. If he does get to the Whitehouse those who think that they run the show will most certainly attempt to assassinate him, they have too much to lose if he gets in power. All that said, I don’t think the Cabal will still be around. Massive arrests of the criminals within the banking & corporate world are imminent, the whole corrupt game is being brought down. If Pentagon insiders & whistle blowers are speaking the truth about the huge majority within the US military that wants to fix the tattered constitutional republic we’ll see a new USA and World. Let’s hope they are. Who knows maybe Paul will be chosen as temporary leader until they place their house back in order and honest elections are held.

> Au contraire he says. Paul is going to be top three along with Newt and Mitt in Iowa and New Hampshire. He is within one point of the Newt in both Iowa and New Hampshire placing him second and third respectively. There seems to be a concerted effort by the establishment Republican party to marginalize Newt ([http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/285787/winnowing-field-editors](http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/285787/winnowing-field-editors)) and Ron Paul has been the subject of republican establishment marginalization since jump street.
>
> He has a dedicated and passionate following and has picked up more from the tea party movement. People might think some of his ideas are too radical but they seem to think he is sincere in his beliefs (especially compared to someone like Newt or Mitt). If newt and mitt keep beating each other up, Ron paul might take Iowa and that might propel him to wins in other primary states where he is currently polling very competitively.
>
> Noone took him seriously a few months ago and even now they think that he will only do well in the early primary states (WTF?) but that will give him a voice at the convention. But noone seems to think he will even have enough influence to get the second seat.

I can just see the lizard people assassins jumping out of their UN-owned black helicopters to murder President Paul and take over our national parks in order to advance their plan of implementing sharia law in Yellowstone. This is what Lyndon LaRouche has been warning us about for decades, and it is practically inevitable. Wake up, sheeple!

I am quite certain that not even Paul, not even if you could catch him alone and drunk, would agree with a single word of the above.

Those on both political extremes are always at least half-rooting for some apocalyptic scenario or other, as it’s perhaps the only way their wacky ideas will ever get implemented.

My guess is that the huge majority inside the US military would like their paychecks to keep coming, mostly.
