What’s scary is that there are people who are eminently willing to believe the absurd – maybe Baghdad Bob’s on to something. Proof? Rush Limbaugh did a parody of Baghdad Bob, having Bob claim the Iraqis had successfully invaded the US mainland. I hear tell that Baghdad Bob failed to show up for his customary news conference this morning, nor did any of his aides. I certainly hope he’s OK! If the U.S. captures him, I think we should give him a walk - he’s too entertaining to lock up. A regular spot on _The Daily Show_ would be nice. ---

**Early Out** , what with reports that internal order in Baghdad has finally broken down (armed civilians looting in the streets), maybe the entire government has either slipped outta town (I’m nowhere near convinced we have _that_ tight a siege) or are bunkered down 'cause it’s no longer safe to venture out into the streets. Though gotta grant it, Saeed beat any of the other high Baath officials in the what-the-hell-have-I-got-to-lose department by staying so visible, so close to the front (“What front? Our fedayeen have ensured the undisturbed tranquility of this City of Peace, the Americans found their annihilation at the border!”) so far into the game. ---

A journalist let slip that Mr al-Sahaf and the head of the press centre had moved into the same hotel where they had been putting up the journalists. However, today there was no morning press conference, and the press centre chief seems to have buggered off in his limo. [is the report from the Sky news site](http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-12283444,00.html). This morning, the BBC’s Andrew Gilligan explained in his mornign radio report that the minders had all gone, and that the journliasts were now free to roam around at will. Last night, Sky did a little special on al-Sahaf. The funniest part was a clip of him reading out a statement from Saddam Hussein… without his reading glasses… and the paper appeared to be completely blank. ---

Looks like Mr. Magoo to me. Minister Magoo, I’ve heard him called. Of course, Jim Backus played both Thurston Howell and Mr. Magoo. His rhetoric is imaginative. I wish the US congress could be as wittily insulting. His detachment from reality is just amazing ---

I just want to say that I am a tad disappointed that a man who is guilty of distributing misinformation in support of a tyrannical mass murderer and who fully supports an Iraqi war effort that includes human shields, using children on the battlefield, and killlings under a flag of surrender can become a source of amusement and joy. He’s an evil man who is doing his best in his role to destroy as many lives as possible, and he’s treated as a celebrity here and in the media. It’s a shame really. And, before anyone says it, yes, I know I’m being hypersensitive and this thread is all in good fun, but I just wanted to share my thoughts. I’ll go get this stick out of my ass now. ---
