I thought I'd lost my little girl

I’m glad the Bug is okay, Scylla. 911 operators and EMTs and doctors deal with febrile seizures all the time, and yeah, they’re pretty common…but not when they happen to your kid. Then, they’re scary as hell. Count me as another one who teared up.

drags soap box out, trips over it, skins knee, curses and stands on the ground CPR - both adult and child/infant - are crucial skills to have, as well as basic first aid. Scylla had a trained professional 911 dispatcher. Don’t assume they’re all like that. Those articles are old, but they still apply. Until last year, when everyone in my agency got certified in EMD, we technically weren’t allowed to give pre-arrival instructions - including CPR. Additionally, some people may live out in the boonies where it might take an ambulance 20 minutes to get there; or the ambulance may get tied up in traffic, or have an accident itself, or maybe the houses aren’t clearly marked. I guess all I’m saying is don’t place all your trust in the emergency services provided by your local government; you may be unpleasantly surprised. turns to go, trips over soapbox again, whips out flamethrower and incinerates it into oblivion.

As for your wife asking what the number was… :D. I’ve had panic-stricken people actually dial 911 and scream “HOW DO I CALL 911???” when I answered.

And I know that in Little Kid Eyes I’m nowhere near as cool as a Police Officer or a Firefighter or an EMT (we don’t get to wear sexy uniforms or run red lights)…but tell Big Sis there’s a 911 operator in MO who thinks what she did was awesome.
